Following up on the tattoos on chavs thread.....
What's the concencus on the 'tramp stamp' - aka tat on the small of the back - usually some Celtic or other medevil looking image.
Kinda old hat but finding them alot - there's even a game to play of spotting the tramp. . . . |

Siren has one of those and she'd be mortified to hear they're known as tramp stamps. Hers is quite sexy although they're supposed to be two little dolphins swimming in a circle but they look like sperm actually. |

"well the phrase TRAMP STAMP i think isnt nice, i know a few with those sort of tatts and there is nothing trampy about them"
It's a better name than 'slag tag'.
A guy once told me it's how you spot the difference between the sort of gal you take home and the sort you take home to meet your mother.
I assumed his name was Norman and lived in a motel. |

Name calling is usually started by folk that do not like what they see...some tattooes are poorly done some are pieces of real art...ignore that people that use these names...what do they know anyway...
And just for the record...love all inked girls...shows their freedom of choice... |

Ive also known loads of tramps (worked with) who were very well dressed, inteligent and articulate one even had the skills of a concert pianist so I dont really get what Tramp Stamp is supposed to mean. |

It was common in the past with women born in the 70’s and 80‘s in the main. The perceived correlation between having a tattoo in this location and being sexually promiscuous. The larger the tramp stamp, the more promiscuous the female. Someone coined the term tramp stamp as it was a permanent indication of a promiscuous female. |

Love bites were known as 'bunk up badges' when I was a teenager in the 70s
I thought they were now known as 'slag tags' - and the lower back tattoos were tramp stamps.
Either way, they're derogatory terms which annoys me because here we are in the 21st Century, still in a situation where being sexually liberated if you're female is STILL seen as a bad thing and comes with nasty, insulting labels.
When are we going to get away from the pathetic labelling of promiscuous women?

Sorry but this is ridiculous, how can a tattoo make a person a tramp? I have a tattoo at top and bottom of my back and can assure I'm neither a tramp or a slag |

Good for you! He'd think twice about saying it again if he'd lost several of his teeth insulting Jane.
As far as I'm concerned, it's body art which can be good or bad depending on what it is and who did it. But it has precious little to do with a woman's sexual lifestyle.
Oh - and I don't have a single tattoo - but do like [some] of them on other people |

"Sorry but this is ridiculous, how can a tattoo make a person a tramp? I have a tattoo at top and bottom of my back and can assure I'm neither a tramp or a slag "
Sadly I think a lot of it seems appropriate to the wearer of it...in the same way as supposedly rough ugly women have 'minges' beautiful women have 'pussies'...
I have seen slovenly types of women have theirs described as 'tramp stamps' and classy women who seem to have everything in the right places have their tatts described as classy...never 'tramp stamps'...
One things for sure though...the terms both 'tramp stamp' and slag tag' (a love bite not a tatt) appear to have come from other women..I rarely hear men refer to them as such...maybe other women are jealous?..who knows.
I dont particularly like tatts, especially on women,...but its their choice...they dont make someone any lesser of a person FFS...but its a sad world isnt it when we judge people purely on the strength a bloody tattoo..
