It’s boring I know, but when you first meet someone in person, what else do you say?
So why complain about someone sending you this message online?
Just saying. |

Its not about the message it is about the context. Not a problem at a meeting in person where you have *chosen* to meet them. However imagine the effort required to do the same for the hundreds of other people who you dont know as you walk to the meet, who ask the same question and you want to be polite to. The five at the chemist the 150 in the supermarket and it being shouted from every random car or person that passes you. Now imagine that many of them are wearing masks and only want you to answer so they can look at your face and some deliberately side step into your path and shout abuse when you don't answer. Yes - of course it is the *message* that is the problem...
Just saying, of course. |

Because when they message they have not met you. When they meet they have. |

"The first thing I ask someone when meeting them is “Have you ever been arrested, and if so, what for?”
And if they say yes, you walk away?"
God no, I’d discuss the reasons why they were stupid enough to get caught |

Usually I ask what their favourite dinosaur is and why!
They answer T Rex I know he's a flashy git out to impress
Diplodocus, Apatasaurus Stegosaurus are the answers I seek, I know he is an ok guy and worth getting to know.
Just never say Pteradactyl! Complete psychos those pteradactyl lovers |

People want to know that the person sending the message has looked at their profile and that from what they saw they liked and were compelled to message. The 'Hi, hows it going?' messages feel cheap to me and lack effort. Imo to have your message stand out you have to say more than hows you. |

I think say what you like, reply how you like, judge all you liked. But own the consequences and try not to whinge too much about your success or lack of because you then just add to the negativity..... |
