Ok here is question you got a duck corn and a dog on ireland out at sea there is bad strom coing you got to get them off the island with your self
You have a small bott but can only put one of them in at a time
The dog will eat the duck if left alone
The duck will eat the cron if left alone
You only got enough petrol for seven jorneys
You got to ge them toaa safe Island before the strom comes
So how do you do it you have about 3 hours to do it in and each jorning takes about 20 min
so go tell me how you do it lol |

Take the duck leaving the dog with the corn. Come back, get the dog and take him to island. Pick up duck, bring it back so dog is alone. Leave duck alone and take corn. Come back and get duck.

Drop Duck off (journey 1)
Come back and pick up Dog (journey 2)
Drop Dog off but pick up Duck (journey 3)
Come back and drop off Duck but pick up Corn (journey 4)
Drop off Corn with Dog (journey 5)
Go back and pick up Duck (journey 6)
Drop off Duck with Dog and Corn on safe island (journey 7) |

Take the duck over, come back.
Take the dog over, leave it but bring the duck back.
Take the corn over, come back.
Take the duck over.
Ah others have already replied since I was typing. This is well known puzzle, I normally see it with a fox and chicken, or something. |

First take the duck across. Then go back, fetch the dog, but when you drop off the dog pick up the duck and return. Drop off the duck and fetch the corn, go back, drop off the corn, go back and fetch the duck.
On the final journey consider why the duck could not simply fly or swim across. Or: why the duck (having eaten the corn) wasn't consumed by the dog before you made your first journey. Or why Ireland needs evacuating in the first place.
Don't think about it too much though. |
