Soo many men I’ve spoken to on fab eventually end up telling me they are older than what they’ve stated on their profiles. Or on very few occasions, we’ve met for a social and it’s been blatantly obvious they’re older.
Is this normal in the world of fab?
I understand a year difference for discretion and what not. But saying you’re 5 or 10 years younger doesn’t put us on to a good start in terms of trust. I like to know who I’m engaging with.
Is it just me who gets miffed by this?

Is it because the age range of the majority of people on here. Im 62 and always look at the age range people are looking to meet.
Just accept your age and know others around the same age are out there. Feeling sexy does not stop at any age.
Just accept your body changes and your abilities are different than you were when younger. Horses for courses? |

"I've neverstood why a 50 year old says their 42
You just look like a really really old 42. Isnt is better to look great for 50? "
Exactly this, and as someone who doesn't care about age, I'd rather people were honest |

i always like the way women always pick up men for lying about their age.
you make it incredible difficult in the first place with must haves and have nots on profiles so no wonder guys do it.
you set the rules of the playground and lets be honest.
ive turned up to many socials to meet women and they have been overweight, untidy and nothing like how they photoshop there pics on the profiles.
but as a man if i dare mention that you get damned and be treading on twitter as some sort of cunt for telling the truth. |

I met someone once who was at least 10 years older than his pics. Could just about see the resemblance! Why?? What a waste if everyone’s time.
I’ll admit my age isn’t correct but we’re only talking months, my location isn’t either but that was for anonymity. |

Honesty is the best policy, don’t know why people have to tell lies, liars always get found out in the end, it’s like photos on some profiles, you so can tell it’s been photoshopped and when you meet that person they are totally different to there profile.. Honestly why?? Trust is everything on this site, some people just don’t get that. |

On the dating sites- POF, Tinder, in my experience 90% of women are ‘creative’ about their age. If you get on on the first date it usually comes out quickly in the conversation and is laughed off.
No big deal. |

I've never understood why anyone would deceive regarding there age, if your looking to meet then your so obviously heading for a fall. Apart from the dishonesty aspect surely you must know your going to disappoint before you even say hello

Again, it’s just my experience I’m talking of here.
I’m sorry my profile annoyed you with my “must haves” and “have nots”, but a lot of us do have preferences and standards.
You’re not going to be everyone’s cup of tea.
Exact same way how I steer away from the profiles looking for more mature ladies/ladies of a different size to me. That’s life. |

I’ve had it a few times. I don’t see people older than me, so it is annoying when I make the exception and it turns out that they are 15+ years older than me... I have zero interest. I always have a social, so from there I say I am no longer interested.
Fortunately it’s only been 2-3 times. |

I have an honest profile in age etc
However seeing the age ranges of some Ladies who interest me I can see the potential benefit of having a younger aged profile. That though starts me done the path of not having an honest profile....
Have fun all. |

Similar to the "height" thread currently running - people (both men and women) will lie about their age for various reasons and *some* of those reasons will be to get round filters, or give themselves a "better chance" because those people perceive that it will - invariably those people will be found out and ruin their own chances.
Personally I'm a 55 year old, past his prime, no more than average bloke and I see no reason to lie about that, or anything else, if anything I can be a little too honest at times, yet it's never done me any harm - whereas pretending someone I'm not probably would.
I do however understand why people do it - men because they think it will secure a meet in an environment already crammed with men, and women because they think it will make them more appealing to the kind of guy they hope to attract - or any number of other reasons you care to think of.
Personally if I found someone was lying about something like their height or age or sexuality or marital status or anything really, I'd want to understand why they felt the need to lie, and if the reason was compelling enough (e.g. shaved a year off to avoid being recognised) then I might overlook it, but generally speaking I'd wonder what else they were lying about |

Yep most of the men I have met on here have under played their age. One by nearly 10 years, but usually it’s 5 years.
I’m rubbish at gauging someone’s age anyway so tend to think they’ve had a stressful life until they tell me (because they always tell me, eventually ) |

Probably the reason they do it is because they may be outside the age cut off point that ladies have on their profile so they lower it to that so they can Message ladies ...some can carry a few years sliced off as they may be fit for their age ..others may not so much .. |

I met a lady told me she was 51 after our first five minutes of meeting in the bar she said she had a confession to make that she was really 61 .
I said can't understand why she lied as she looked great for her age and looked slightly younger than the the 51 she lied about |

I've found that quite a lot of males do lie about there age, so by a lot, I met a bloke who was 59 on his profile, but 73 I real life, really nice guy, fit for his age, but had lied about it. Said he found that if he had put up his real age he would have outside the range a lot of people look at.
Maybe if people were more open minded about age, and didn't think that after 60 a man or woman is over the hill, people wouldn't lie so much.
I'm 63, look younger, and have never been age shamed, but find that women that fit my age range often don't want to meet because I'm outside theirs. |

I find that when people join Fab they are that keen to get laid they do not complete their profile fully and leave the age parameters at the default setting of 18 - 99. When I try to make contact with these people I am told that I am far too old for them.
Fortunately there are a few ladies on here who are actively seeking really old men and who are genuine.
I can understand ladies in their 60s knocking a few years off their age, but I cannot condone it. |

My age on my profile is correct. I arguably look older than I am, but I've always looked (and often acted) older than my age. Blame that all uphill paper round as a child....
I'm largely past caring about such things, and don't have the inclination or imagination to lie about things |

I would say its a lot to do with filters men lower their age to get to message people women don't really need to do this. Its sad to see many men returning to fab are 5-10 years younger than they were when they left though its a little sad they think its ok to deceive others. |

Yes of course it is, and I know that most of us draw a line at a certain age difference, but I've known lots of happy couples who have an age gap of over 10 years plus and are perfectly happy and matched.

My age on my profile is correct, to a few days.
My age places me outside a huge number of people's age range. On the rare days I get pissed off when being 54 means many ladies won't even allow me to message them, I take comfort knowing that neither can Brad Pitt.
Would it be worth a lie to get past their filters? No, because I'm sure they'd notice, and they have an age range for their own reason.
is it right to lie? I understand having a minor adjustment for discretion, but really if you have an incorrect age ask yourself if you can successfully pull it off. I'm not overly bothered about somebodies age (being legal of course!) as before we would meet we would already have established if there is sufficient interest to meet in the first place. |
