Learnt a new word the other day - Lumbersexual:

'Young and middle-aged male urbanites whose sartorial choices are characterized by thick and well-groomed beards, styled haircuts, and clothing that tends towards the rugged.'

Are you a lumbersexual or a real man?

Why is this a sexual thing? It sounds like it's just a style of dressing. We didn't have mod-sexual and rocker-sexual, or punk-sexual, or new romantic-sexual. It doesn't make sense to me.

It's a variant of 'metrosexual' - used to describe the shifting of 'masculine norms'.

How is looking like a lumberjack not masculine?

Also why is a guy taking pride in their appearance not masculine? Look back in history and most men would take pride in their appearance. Bryl cream their hair, wear nice suits, male sure they smelled nice.

The “real man” label is pretty toxic to be honest in this day and age.

I firmly believe if you want to have a haircut and beard like that and wear a checked shirt you sure as hell want to be able to change a truck tyre, not just sit there crying waiting for the AA

Hmm.

Apparently many of those luxuriant beards have been augmented by some oil stuff. Thing. And the beard equivalent of backcombing.
