"No.
AIDS is not a virus.
Next.
Er, it's caused by a virus.
"
That wasn't the question though..
Different rate of transmission
Different mode of transmission
Different pathophysiology.
Different mechanism of mortality
.... What's the OP trying to ask exactly about the demographics? |

They are similar in that they both overly affected disadvantaged sections of the population. HIV had the biggest impact within male gay community and intravenous drug users.
CV19 has a bigger impact on BAME communities |

"Are the two comparable? And does the main demographic of infections, effect the world's response? "
I would definitely agree that the main demographics of infections have influenced the response. There are other similarities too, CV19 and HIV both encourage monogamous lifestyles. |

Nearly fourty years later and still no cure, I remember watching the TV show horizon in 1982 for my biology class and it was called grid, it was awful and scary, and the attitude of the time was terrible, towards it, and its victims, really shocking when poor rock Hudson died of it in 1985,took so long for government to take it seriously as it mainly affected gay bi trans and drug users, much faster for covid19, I wandering why? |

Very different circumstances and very different viruses.
Thank God HIV is not as transmittable as covid, if it was we would likely all be infected as it has such a long period before you show symptoms.
Hiv will not be disappearing anytime soon. And those that state using prep means you can't catch it or give need to do some reading as that's not the case.
Covid (we all have covid in us, just different strains) will eventually settle, just not for a few years.
In terms of mortality they also don't compare. While covid can lead to mortality in a short period it is no where near the same level.
Let's all be sensible and things will get better. Unfortunately forany being sensible seems difficult |
