"I would count but not classed as wicca guess would be pagan."
Wiccan is not an old belief but is based on the old ways. It didn t really surface until the 1800s. Pagan is far older... |

Paganism isn't really specific to a particular belief - the dictionary definition is "a person holding religious beliefs other than those of the main world religions". Wiccanism was started in England in the 1950's based loosely on ancient beliefs, but as there are virtually no documents describing practices the religion was pretty much made up as they went along. But that's true for all religions. |

Agreed. I think it's very much a case of follow your own path when it comes to these things. |

Haha! Yeah the SB I think is more relevant to Americans, as a lot of it seems to be about rebellion against evangelicals.
Yeah same here, no gods no masters. Satan is more of a reminder to me of free will and independence against subordination from those who pretend to have your interests at heart. The 7 Tenets just stand to me as a means of putting life into perspective when things are looking down. Good for the mind to put everything in order once in a while I guess.
Plus - It’s always so fun to say I’m a satanist and watch people’s reactions too |

"Wasn't our Christmas Day 25th of December originally a pagan festival date"
Kind of. Early pagans wouldn't have a concept of "dates" as we know them from the Gregorian calendar. They supposedly celebrated the winter solstice on around the 21st of December. The Romans celebrated Saturnalia from the 17th of December through to the 25th, approximately. |

The pagan sites and festivals were taken over by the church. The reason being the only way to get the people in church was to take over the pagan sites. It is documented though that many of the builders were of pagan belief and so buried or carved into sectet places of the new churches and cathedrals were pagan symbols etc. The church got their congregations but...lol...find a book called domain of devils..its an excellent read. |
