Could somebody please tell me what practical use spiders are. Just come home and found one of them in my kitchen. I didn't invite the bloody thing in. Get out. I hate them with a passion. I know it irrational but they scare the hell out of me (shivers down my spine). Is it just me or is anybody else scared of them? |

They don't bother me as much as they did in the past, as I cannot stop them from crawling into my tent which did not have a sewn in groundsheet.
They eat other bugs, and I am bigger than them. |

I have a phobia of big spiders, little ones I can tolerate.
We had a big one that lived in our hall cupboard that I swear used to come out and taunt me.
But then I don't really like any creepy crawlies. |

as said spiders eat other bugs and flies.
On the subject of being scared of them, if someone had a spider in a case, i could go up to it and possible touch it, if i can see it im not scared, however if i lift a cup up and a spider ran out from behind i have a little trail of poo dribbling down my legs |

nothing to do with spiders but i found a bees nest in my compost when i went to turn it over the other day and chatting to my neighbour he said chuck some petrol on it and burn them i laughed jokingly they werent really bothering anyone cos they were at the top of my garden so i left em alone! however while i was out at nite he came over and set fire to their nest killing virtually all of them without my permission! |

Relatively dull fact time: Humans from birth are naturally scared of spiders and snakes, this is a primitive survival thing due to them being venomous, it is also true that bitter tasting food and drink is rejected by the young as many poisons are bitter. With age and education we learn which are harmless and which are dangerous so the natural fear is no longer needed…. so anyone who is afraid of spiders probably didn’t learn enough about them, the phobia is merely an extension of instinct. |

If you like plants, including house or garden plants, as well as crops/food, then spiders are essential. They will trap and eat many bugs, such as greenfly and other aphids, as well as mites that infect lots of crops and plants. (Mites are also 8 legged, so not insects).
We need diversity, as everything that's evolved lives in harmonious balance with everything and it's humans who are out of balance, causing devastation and species loss, which could be our own downfall. Bee loss is poentially being aided by our own chemical manufacture and use, as an example of how we may end up affecting our food supplies.
Spiders in this country, by and large, are no real problem. Anyone with a debilitating phobia could be cured in less than an hour and those that do have fears realise by and large it's irrational, even if it has become second nature to them. |

"Do a "Google" for Camel spiders then look at the one in your kitchen and say your tiny go away and eat all the flies "
Have saw these close up and believe me our spiders are not scary when compared to them.
Once read if it were not for spiders we would be knee deep in insects and they would overun the planet starving us all.
Unless you fancy eating insects that is. |

I know it's a ridiculous phobia but I can't help it. My brother used to torment me with creepy crawlies when we were young and I haven't been able to shake it off.

I can catch spiders in a jar and release them outside, or wait till they nip back down the plughole, but my phobia is moths and butterflies...I look odd walking down the street in summer when a flutterby is approaching me I veer out the way and the wee fecker makes a beeline for me so I look like some Care in the Community oddbod dancing on and off the flipping pavement |

Your neighbour obviously hasn't heard that if the bees die out so do we? Also, it is illegal to interfere with a bees nest so, apart from the fact your neighbour trespassed, he committed an offence probably under the Wildlife Act! |

And I hate spiders too, but they do keep down the flies which I hate even more! So everything on this planet has a purpose. Oh and so do wasps - caught them taking out flies in the garden couple of years ago. Was ace! lol |

You know, it baffles me how spiders haven't evolved to fly.
Imagine it, FLYING SPIDERS!!
Big, flying spiders as big as your head. |

Spiders have evolved to jump to catch lizards and insects, flying is a mere setback. |
