No . Apart from the ridiculousness of saying murder is wrong so therefore we will perform state sanctioned murder to punish you , there are too many ways for it to happen to innocent people

Should someone who committed murder in retribution of let's say murderer or someone who committed serious sexual assault?

I don't agree with death penalty but I also don't agree with how the current prison system works and benefits criminals.

If it was up to my I would dump all high level criminals on a deserted island surrounded with huge concrete walls, laser detection alarms etc.

They fucked up, they can fend for themselves.

Kind of my point though.. Wasn't meaning let's all take law into our own hands, but how would death penalty work in that instance?

No. You can never guarantee you wouldn't kill an innocent person. You can let someone out of prison, you can never bring them back to life. Plus it often works out to be immensely more expensive with all the appeals and stuff.

I don't even know how it's still a debate.

It kills innocent people.

There's no evidence it works as a deterrent.

Those two facts should be enough.

I used to think yes but now I think no, just as it final and you can't change it. Human error can happen and innocent people have been sent to death I always thought death penalty was cheaper than prison til I realised many of those in death row prison are there for years before even being given a date.

I do think harsher punishments/a change up for prison for those crimes that would previously have received the death penalty is needed.

Speaking of death row, anyone see that Netflix series I am a Killer?

If you're a undeniable murderer showing no remorse, then free up prison space with a slaughter house and rid the world of sin

No but ITV did a series of programs about death a couple of years ago and it really opened my eyes.

I never believed in the death penalty and this just reinforced my belief we shouldn't have it.

Killing murderers will not rid the world of sin.

Oh really? I may try and check it out!

Yeah it's crazy, one of the guys they spoke to was in normal jail, knew he'd likely not get out, and ended up murdering another inmate just so he could go on death row because it's supposedly a nicer prison with tvs and things and more relaxed because everyone knows they're there to die.

There was some with Trevor Mcdonald and some with Pires Morgan I think.

Actually really insightful.

I know they have stopped the last meal thing in some death row wings but I was very surprised that they could keep pets like fish, cats and birds.

Britans last hangman, Albert Pierrepoint, is credited with 680 executions. What would be his view on capital punishment as a deterrent? Well, in his autobiography he wrote:

"I cannot agree. There have been murders since the beginning of time, and we shall go on looking for deterrents until the end of time. If death were a deterrent, I might be expected to know. It is I who have faced them last, young lads and girls, working men, grandmothers. I have been amazed to see the courage with which they take that walk into the unknown. It did not deter them then, and it had not deterred them when they committed what they were convicted for. All the men and women whom I have faced at that final moment convince me that in what I have done I have not prevented a single murder."

Few people knew more about the actual execution process than him. He lived it. He actually carried out the execution. He was the guy who got his hands dirty... he should know.

Sadly, not all of the 680 were guilty as we now know, and there really isn't any form of compensation for them or their families.
