"Paul Hollywood meets Aston Martin
on bbc 2 now
A DB9 is one of my favourite sports cars
Whats yours?"
Hmm a supercar that is I’m quite understated but if I had to own a supercar it may as well be an AM |

My favourite is an Audi R8. My neighbour took me for a spin and I nearly wet myself through excitement. Beautiful sounding car. I was going to have a drive but my legs were trembling with the rush so I declined. |

I have never been a car person.
I have always admired the Porsche 911though but I’d never drive a car like it.
It’s bit like I admire supermodels and like the way they look but I just wouldn’t wanna shag one.

"Interesting that there's not many American muscle cars
The Trans Am is another favourite of mine "
They sound nice and look the part but they are badly made and cost a fortune to run. Love a dodge viper though |

I was at Cadwell Park race track a few years ago and got talking to Guy Martin while he was stood next to his 1967 Vox Volvo Amazon Estate, 788bhp, 0-60 in 3 seconds & 205mph top speed, not bad for a family estate car |

Humberside Police used to use the 850 T5R Estate for their traffic cars because of speed & load capacity, Chatting to a traffic cop he told me they were 'technically' a T6R as they were upgraded with a Garrett T6 turbo to compensate for all the gear they had to carry |

Never been much of a fan of “super cars”
Always preferred tuned cars that have been built, usually Japanese cars.
1000bhp Subaru’s that can easily 1/4 mile well below 10 seconds
Turbo converted civics running 700bhp
Even the humble 1.3 Glanza can be tuned to 300bhp
If I had to choose...probably the new 911 turbo S.....that thing is a monster. |

Sounds like a Fiat 500 stage 2 remap with a massive wing spoiler |

Lifes departure lounge NN9 Northamptonshire East not West MidlandsMidlands |
My love of sports cars started in 1959 with a Triumph TR2 and ended in 2019 with a Mazda MX5,
In between:
2 x Morgans
1 Austin Healey "Frog eye" Sprite
2 MG Midgets
1 Triumph TR5
1 Triumph TR6
1 Jaguar "E" type
1 Lancia Beta Coupe
In all fairness the in between period was around 50 Plus years.
Still have a craving for the poor mans Aston, The DB7 but getting a bit late in life for that to happen, that said my Brother in Law is 86 and still drives a Porsche 911. |

So many to choose from wouldn't mind a Lotus Carlton but I much prefer a sleeper than flash looking.
Says the man with a Volvo station wagon but 5 cylinders do sound good with an added turbo whoosh. |

I was behind the wheel of a DB9 on Friday there, and a 488, a W12 GT Continental and AM Zagato. I'll never own any of these cars though which is a shame
Picking a favourite is a really tough choice but my list would be a Ferrari Testerossa, a Lambo Diablo, the new Ferrari Roma, E type Jag, Porsche 911 and the Disco Volante |

Some fantastic cars on this thread. I've driven quite a few.
Nobody has mentioned McLaren, who get my heart racing... sticks to the road/track like it's on rails and the smoothest gear change I've ever encountered. Give me the 720s or the 570s I'm not fussy.

I found it a bit of a dull drive. Rapid but bland. |

"Jaguar f-type V6 coupe.
Affordable, sounds amazing.
Looks like something James bond would drive."
The V8 sounds so much better. To be perfectly honest though the sound when it started up was the best thing about it. People the other side of the car park would turn round when u started if. It’s a decent car but there’s far better, it’s not a patch on a 911 IMO having owned both |

Seems to be a standard Audi thing unfortunately. Technically they are excellent, but every one I’ve ever driven is so dull, they’re fast, but they feel very sterile. |

"Probably an Audi R8.. more discreet than a lambo or ferrari, or a cheeky Mclaren
Backed up by the Audi Rs6 Avant . "
Can’t understand why anyone, if money wasn’t an issue, would take an R8 over a ferrari ??
McLaren are great cars but they have a lot to learn as a company in how to deal with their customers. I wouldn’t go near a McLaren again |

There are some awesome cars mentioned in this thread which I totally appreciate but am I alone in preferring the performance versions of more everyday, real world cars? |

Not for me. I love the feeling it gives me when I leave home in the morning and climb into a gorgeous looking sports car. Modern Ferrari’s, porsche, McLaren etc etc ARE real world cars. Every day drivers. I’m not one for leaving it in the garage and taking out on rare occasions. If you buy one, drive it every day and enjoy it for what it is |

You say that, but for me even if money wasn’t a issue the car I would choose out of any would be a 1968 Mustang Fastback, as seen in BULLITT, can’t beat anything touched by the King Of Cool |

Audi RS6 Avant - couldn't agree more!! It should be classed as a sleeper, absolute giant killer with that power!! |
