People put all sorts on their profile some even put slim when they are clearly scrawny.
If you look at a profile, find it unappealing you block and go for ones you like. |

Like most descriptions it's purely subjective. I use it. I have a typical distance runners build and carry very little fat. Strong muscles rather than big muscles - I am a world away from a gym body though. |

"I have seen quite a few profile where they have put athletic and clearly could not run more than about 10 meters... so what does it mean?"
by that definition you wouldn't call most international rugby players athletes..... |

To us it would be someone who has the look of the popular concept of an athlete, for instance someone who looks muscular/well defined from working out in a gym or competing at their chosen sport.
Trace used to use the Athletic description but since her contours have softened she now uses Curvy.

For me, athletic would identify a standard somewhat higher than fit, which has a general connotation of physical health.
With general lack of physical restrictions, I'd expect someone like this to be able to run 3 miles or so non-stop fairly easily and not be wasted when complete. They'd likely have good muscle shape/tone and size, rather than simply lean and well above average fitness levels.
Most of this is subjective, as great health levels can be achieved from lots of walking and activity levels that are high, without muscle being gained, so guessing that I prefer a muscular/athletic physique, of someone who is particularly physically fit and strong. |

"Here comes my favourite way to describe an athletic person: he has a well-defined Apollo's Belt! "
I would've been so disappointed if you hadn't said it! |

Don't really agree that athletic means going to the gym. I have alway been athletic, more so in my younger days of long jump, hurdles, javelin, cycling and swimming.
I think some peeps are naturally athletic and I still am to some extent, especially where sex is concerned. Although in my 50s andI am no longer the slim, toned athlete of my younger days, I still have a pretty athletic body and can out-dance many a young un. |

see.. thats the point I would make... I played Rugby and American football up to a high standard.... but you won't call me conventionally fit....
the interesting thing is when I outsprint or outrun one of these "buff six pack" people when they get really cocky..... its then they tend to run out of excuses.... |

It seems we're getting mixed up here with looks and performance.
The profile guide is to give interested parties an idea of how those people look not how they can perform.
We all have a preconceived idea of how an athletic, curvy, large etc person looks and for the most part peoples ideas usually tally.
This being a swinging site, people are mainly attracted by looks not athletic prowess.
How athletically competent they are doesn't matter as much as long as they look the part.
Well that's our take on it anyway.

Its all about looks on a site like this
Runners are athletes but a marathon runner looks ill,not athletic.
We had a message off an "athletic" lad.nik had bigger muscles.we thought if he lied about that what other porkers is he telling so deleted it.as we do with any other ones who say the same. |

I think you'll find skinny guys who focus on the muscles that are 'showy' are not really thats trong and fast.
If a rugby/American football player took it seriously he will be following a program that involves strength work via squats, deadlifts etc.
He will also be into conditioning to get the most from strength gains.
Serious players of the game are fast because they can continue to put a lot of force into their running speed.
Also: LOL @ the "being able to run 3 miles without suffering" poster
Marathons are bad for you mmk? |

It's subjective. For instance Liz McColgan was not only athletic, she was an athlete. She still looked like a bag o' bones tho.
Although she does throw a mean right hook |

only the pro rugby league players look athletic.the weekend warriors are more into drinking
when fab designed the option i dont think they were concerned how quick you do 15k or how much you bench press.its the look that matters.
nik doesnt worry about someones athletic prowess on the track, she wants to see muscles when she is getting fucked.
so putting athletic when you clearly aint is only going to put people off chatting anymore with you. |

I think in essence both on boys and girls we are discussing muscle definition rather than size and a body shape where the shoulders taper to the waist and legs are defined and not match sticks .
athletic conveys something different than slim
I hope I describe myself accurately |

Maybe they play golf or darts, or....what other sports do they play and call it a sport? |

Athletic ie does a sport and just because someone is not slim does not mean they cannot be athletic, look at shot putters, they ain't slim are they? Wouldn't put me off at all even though I am unfit |

Athletic to me means fit and with defined muscles - can be medium or bigger build depending on what sport they pursue. Athletic can be true for a Rugby player as it can be for a runner... |

"Athletic to me, means low body fat, and visible muscle definition.
Others may view it differently"
Agreed, I think it's more about lean muscles and low body fat rather than say being really muscular or bulky like a bodybuilder/rugby player etc - that for me is not athletic, that is "muscular" or "built" |

Athletic = built like a Russian shot putter, dead lifts 200kg, hairier than a Turkish wrestler, has a Geoff Capes style beard.
That's what her profile pics looked like |

You dont have to be built like a russian shotputter to be able to deadlift 200kg. I can do that at around my bodyweight. |
