Just to clear a couple of thing's up regarding Vit D.....VERY basically.

The thread on Vitamin D and Covid-19 was closed.

People seem to think that Vitamin D2 and D3 are the same, they are NOT.

Vitamin D2 can be sourced mainly from plants and fortified foods.

Vitamin D3 is only found in animal-sourced foods.

Someone suggested eating mushrooms for your requirements - lol, NO, eat a ton of mushrooms and it's not gonna increase Vit D3 levels at all.

Both are are metabolised by the liver into 25-hydroxyvitamin D2 and 25-hydroxyvitamin D3,known as 25D or calcifediol.

So ignore supplementing with Vit D2 as D3 produces a higher blood level of calcifediol

That's good, if you use sunscreen BUT you are not getting enough Vitamin D3 and if you get your blood works done I will assure you you are deficient.

Keep in mind that these blasted labels on foods give wrong info!!

For instance they state RDA which are incorrect to start with.

RDA is not to thrive but survive.

If you smoke then each cig leaches approx 25mg of Vit C from your system, now check what the RDA is.

Eating 5/10 fruit and veg a day will have little to no impact on cancers.

This came about in the 1930's in America during the depression and had nothing to do with improving health but improve the economy ,lol.

Vitamins and minerals are more easily assimilated in pure form than in foods.

Also Holland and Barrett are SHITE with low quality ingredients and staff that know NOTHING about the products they sell, they give people false info and often harmful just to rob you of your money.

Buy online - Peak supplements are one of the best companies with great product and they are based in Port Talbot.

But dont you think our bodies are perfectly designed to access the nutrients we require from foods, talking natural foods here, after all this time of evolution better than anything synthetic that a lab can create.

My doc said you would need to be starkers for at least 20 mins , in full sun, no protection... Could be challenging in UK... Also sounds safer to take supplements

Had my vitamin D levels tested last week 131.9 nmol/L. I take 3200iu (80micrograms) vitamin D3 per day.

In many instances but naturally we have evolved to get Vitamin D from the sun. Hence the benefits of different skin exposure regularly. And the issues with people being indoors, without time outside.
