What do you call it?

I know this debate is always doing the rounds, but I live near Liverpool and we have a thing called a balm often accompanied with sausage and bacon, when I was in Manchester this week they called it a bap or muffin.
So what do you call it and what part of the country are you from? |

Barm cakes are a specific shape, quite flat, and cooked at the bottom of the oven. Hence the name "Oven Bottom Barms" as printed on the sides of the packets that Warburtons send out to the rest of the country, from barmcake central...Bolton. |

Au contraire. Come to Bolton and Behold the Warburton's factory who are purveyors of said "oven bottom barns". And they are not the only ones. Local independent bakeries call them this too, and not just in Bolton. But please come to Bolton. Please. So very few people do nowadays! |
