How about 'BallsUp'.. although getting the domain name past netnanny filters might be a tad difficult.

Sports Teamwear is an obvious and clear statement. With todays technology it pays to be clear.

the good lands, the bad lands, the any where you may want me lands

your friend could try Importasport, and consider the possible risks from passing off by copying the Intersport logo

Central

You need to determine your business name based on your target market.

Just because a name seems appealing or attractive to some people, doesn't mean that it would be to those who would purchase from/invest in the business etc. It has to instil the right values, emotional feel and all the other aspects of why we like some brands and not others.

Once you get your brand name, then determine your logo, along the same lines.

Whilst almost everyone might buy some gear, you need to really understand your market place, and customers, almost better than they do themselves. Even if you're launching a national brand, the same guidelines really apply, as you need to hit chunks off, bit by bit. It may be that certain market segments will have different needs, and respond differently to alternative messages/branding - this is possible, if you have subsidiary branding/companies etc.

Good luck!
