It's the internet and you can forget there are real people behind the avatars and usernames.
And body language and tone of voice are lost so things can escalate - why you need moderators. Emojis just don't cut it for expressing emotion or tone. |

"It occurred to me earlier.. it's good for people to have confidence and like themselves and I've seen so many threads where people have beaten other people down on here.. "

There can be negativity and it happens a lot on sites with forums. Sometimes people get carried away and forget that they are communicating with another human being. Sometimes it is said in jest but the lack of the facial cues and body language present in a face to face interaction can lead a comment to appear as offensive.
Let’s not forget that there are loads of threads started to offer advice, support, promote positivity or just for a bit of light hearted entertainment. It’s up to the collective mood of the forum to determine which threads remain active and popular and which ones drop down the list quicker than my knickers after a bottle of Prosecco. |
