Im just wondering if any art lovers out there can explain the big attraction to French impressionism.
I've been looking on YouTube at clips covering the works of the likes of Monet, Cezanne, Degas, Manet and the rest of them and I just cannot see any talent in there whatsoever!
To me, not one of them is a patch on Mike Yarwood, yet they seem to be held in such high regard across the globe whereas he's probably collecting trolleys outside Morrison's these days.
They seem to have spent half of their time fannying about painting blotchy pictures and when i did actually find a voice recording from one of them, it was absolutely pathetic! It sounded more like Bleeding Charles de Gaulle, rather than Ted Heath or Harold Wilson, who I'm presuming it was meant to be.
What's all that about? I thought Britains got Talent was a complete crock of shite but France's got Talent must be absolutely excruciating! |

" Do you like Edvard Munch's iconic artwork The Scream sold for $120m its a very powerfull peace of art ."
I thought about investing in that piece.
Then I realised it was just as effective to buy a cheap mirror and then look in it after a few days of trying to get a meet

" Mike Yarwood."
Is he on here then? If so do you know his user name? I bet he'd be a gold mine on this scene as he could be anyone a woman wanted to be, well if they shut their eyes |

"Lol I'd to read that twice there "
Sounds like that time I was flicking through the telly channels and saw 'Extrem Fisting With Robson Green'
I had to read that about 3 times before I realised it was 'fishing'!! |

I'm arty minded...I like some of the impressionists paintings..u have o understand it was very new and was not about creating photorealistic subjects, and the very name impressionists was to convey feelings moreso than vivid reality.
I'm absolutely no fan of van gogh...only a couple of pictures i think are decent...however as the art world dictates what is art its become synonymous of what art is.
I like most art forms...however I dont lie many modern stuff...especially if its about screaming some issue ..I like a picture upon a gut reaction...I dont need to fathom its depths.
I like creativity, with applied EFFORT!- abstract works to me are mostly just good s designs for bed covers furniture etc etc...not what i'd call masterpieces of art.
lastly...there is some SERIOUSLY bad shit out there..and it literally is SHIT! |

I think it's important to remember the scale of these artworks. The may not look much printed in a book or on a computer screen. But they are huge.
Whether or not you like the style in general or the aesthetics of the piece, the skill involved in producing it is undeniable. |

Yep you win a bottle of Lambrini and either a MMF or a FFM with The Krankies. Pleaser state your preference for either Jimmy or Jeanette at least 7 days beforehand though |

We read it all. But at the point of posting the subject was Impressionism rather than your 'social study'.
Think those responses were based on the actual question you asked, and the thread title.
You wouldn't be the first person to have someone misunderstand your post and steer the conversation away from your intended subject. |

Just to clear things up a little:-
"Mike Yarwood, OBE (born 14 June 1941 in Bredbury, Stockport, England) is an English impressionist and comedian. He was one of Britain's top-rated entertainers, regularly appearing on television from the mid 1960s to the early 1980s" |
