After 8 gruelling days without any cig's i am wondering when i can consider myself a non smoker??

i worked out that as i was smoking about 30 fag's a day, at approx £7.45 per 20, in 25 years ( at todays prices) i would spend £100,00.00. wow.

Having not had a cig for about 2 months now I decided that I will always be a smoker but just not had one for a long time. For me it takes away the pressure of changing to non smoker.

I'm on the brink too... will observe for tips, and await the 'positive feeling' feeling towards stopping the occassionaly sweeps over me.

Got myself an e-cigarette yesterday in a more determined effort to stop. Although I have got myself down to about 2 packs a week I think it's time to give up completely.

Well done on stopping. Me and my hubby have also stopped. It's been 1 week and 3 days since we last had one. I asked him the same question as that last night lol

I'm fairly confident as I've been off the fags since August 2010, but call myself an ex-smoker.....once I hit the 2 year mark in a couple of months, I'm gonna consider myself a non-smoker

Well done all you lot who've given up, I will have saved round about £5k at today's prices when I hit 2 years, it's paid for me a few extra holidays

I stopped smoking 64 years ago and the smell of cigarette smoke makes me feel ill. Remember this - who wants to kiss a smoker? Keep it up, you'll live longer if you don't smoke!

massive hugz and stuff to all of you, I stopped 4 years ago and have to say it was one of the good decisions that I occassionally make. I used some new tablets that were out at the time but the side effects made me so ill I just told the gp I would give up without them, which I managed to do.

that is how i feel, the pressure of never smoking again is too hard to bear, but just currently not smoking ( hopes that stay's that way forever ).

good luck to all.

Stenson Fields

Having smoked since the age of 12, I still enjoy a cigarette and at the moment, don't have that desire to stop. 2 years ago, I had a pulmonary embolism...2 bloodcots settled in my right lung after passing through my heart. I stopped smoking for the first 5 days in hospital as obviously wasn't allowed to leave the ward. After that when I was told to move about ( in my rather dashing surgical support stockings) I would wander down to the main entrance, dragging my drip trolley and light up. I was given patches to help me stop smoking, and several bollockings from the doctors and nurses, but even after being on deaths door, I can't and don't want to stop yet.

Besides, if I stop now, I'd turn into one of those patronizing, conceited ex smokers and start telling other smokers how I am so much better than they are because I managed to quit!.....and I couldn't possibly do that.

Who knows

After trying unsuccessfully for 13 years I finally managed to quit on Jan 1st 2009. Not a ciggy since even though at times the withdrawal symptoms were horrendous

In Your Bush

Just hit 3 months found it fairly easy apart from the last couple of days. Been climbing the bloody walls with terrible withdrawal symptoms. Downside of using patches

I'm in the process of cutting down, ive cut out the 'boredom' ciggies an already smoke less than half of what i used to (approx 15/16 per day). When i'm getting the urge i try and grab a piece of fruit to eat, its like double being good then! The hardest thing for me is the habit and the fact i do enjoy smoking, but after 18 years of smoking i think i should seriously consider quitting!!

I stopped 11 months ago, no ciggie since then. I still get urges and enjoy the odd passive smoke. So I'm calling myself an ex smoker. I will only call myself a non smoker when I don't have any cravings anymore.

my dad stopped 45 years ago and still gets cravings and i refuse to smoke when hes about as i dont want to add to it and would never smoke infront of a none smoker or reformed smoker unless its in our own home and even then we go out of the room

I actually go out with the non smokers for a chat. It doesn't even bother me that much, I like the puffs lol. I don't enjoy being in a closed room with smokers as my clothes and hair get smelly. Have tried snogging a smoker since and it was well off putting though.
