The 10000 steps a day challange.

Jump to: Newest in thread

I am into fitness as you know and as it is a new week tomorrow why not start a new challenge. I like different challanges, who is ready to do what it takes from a to z to reach 10000 steps a day? Even if you have to do 2 cardio sessions.

There is no time frame with this challange, we could check in whenever we want and to give eachother advice, who is in? I am in

"How far is 10,000 steps

It all depends how long or short your strides and walking pace is, usually it is 90min but I have found out that if I walk slowly I get more steps in 90min then if I was about to walk quick then I have to walk maibe for 100min to get the same amount of steps

"How far is 10,000 steps

Depends on length of step but I started this in March for a Cancer Awareness challenge and it was about 4 to 4.5 miles.

Carried it on through lockdown and lost 2 1/2 stone.

I aim for 15,000 steps a day now but been very lazy the last few weeks.......

Today we are starting the challange, are you ready? I am. I will start to walk in the afternoon around 2pm. I will do most of the steps then in 90min to 100min. I will walk very quick where you have to catch your breath that kind of speed, like power walking

I went back to work this week and on my 1st day back my fitness watch logged over 16,000 steps! My job is one where I am on my feet all day. No wonder I was tired when I got home.

Might I suggest an alternative or additional ambition

10 000 steps is a little arbitrary and not comparable person to person

Both Fitbit's and apple count more steps than a garmin

It's a good goal to aim for the approx 10 000 as regardless of person or device it's an effective amount of movement

So a variation of the theme

Pick a low step day to begin

There is no person to person competition nor a set figure to achieve

The only rule is to increase ones personal steps by at least 100 each day for a week
