Mine was a Motorola Micro Tac and it would have been about 1994 or 95. It was one of the first to run on the digital network so it was more secure than the previous analogue ones.
I was on the Cellnet network and my number is still the same, other than when they changed 0410 into 07710 all those years ago
It had a battery that lasted all day as long as you didn’t use the phone, a little plastic aerial that you had to pull up and a new feature - SMS so you could send a text message! I seem to remember it could store 10 text messages
What was yours? |

I had the original mobile phone that Orange made.
It was a brick that made calls and 140 character texts, nothing else. And a fiver credit would last me months...
To be fair, I was 11

Motorola MicroTac as well, got it in 97. Was going through basic training and was the only guy who had a mobile, so charged everyone £1 a call who wanted to phone home "in private". Did ok out of it! |

Mine was a Sony "Mars Bar" analogue phone, bought in 1992. Hardly ever used as network coverage was pretty rubbish then. I've still got it, boxed with charger and manual, they seem to go for £50 - £75 so maybe I should consider selling it. |

Probably a Nokia think it had the small sticky up aerial. But honestly can't remember. Definetly sometime in the '90s. Probably sold it on eBay at some point as well. |

A massive silver Motorola my boyfriend got me so he didn't have to speak to my parents on the house phone (remember those!). The first hour of every call was free so we stayed on the phone for 59mins, hung up and called back for whole nights at a time. |

Nokia 101p, bought from PeoplesPhone in 1995. Cost me £100, which was my tipping point price. Had a bracket to mount it on the centre console of my car. Thought I was the cheese, but I was only the smell. |

"Mine was a Sony Ericsson that had the changeable faceplate on it. Was about 1997 "
Yes, I think I had that one, then won one from Coca-Cola with a silver keypad.
Similar to OP always had the same number, always with Vodafone. |

Got the 3310 for Christmas 2003. With a book where you could program in your own ring tones, thank you very much. |

I still have mine in a box somewhere. A Motorola with a pull up aerial and analogue connection.
It made calls and had no screen, just a couple of leds. I was always worried it was still connected at 50p a minute. |

"A Nokia 3210 I loved that phone I think it’s still alive in a cupboard somewhere "
They live forever not like the new smart phones.
You could throw the 3310 down the toilet 300 times or drop it from great heights and it would be just fine |

My Grandad has a Nokia 3310 that we found in a drawer, it must be going on 20yrs old, but it did the job when he needed to phone the AA |

That doesn't surprise me
Manufacturers realised that if they built things to last they wouldn't make any money |

I had a Nokia 3210 with a case covered in lightning bolts! I was so cool at the tender age of 11..
Pretty certain it still works now, Apple could take a few cues from it! |

I can’t remember the make but it was orange & flashed or lit up when it rang. It was a Christmas present from my now ex - I was expecting an engagement ring!! I was 23. It died on me 20 months later just as I went into Labour with eldest child.

I worked for a network provider in the late 80’s and my mobile phone was fitted in my car, took up most of the boot and as I remember was made by Cleartone.......... my first proper mobile was a Panasonic but really wasn’t portable as the battery was massive !!! |
