"A programme that mad me cry.
In my opinion, you can judge a country on how it treats its disabled and elderly
And that extends to many countries
They lose lots at football too."
Perhaps if they knocked the footie on the head and spent the money on their kids etc, they would be a better country |

but you have to bear in mind, the Ukraine as it is today has not existed for very long...1991 i believe it gained its independance. This country is still developing after years of communist oppression by the soviets. Give em a chance. As for football, they were chosen to joint host the Euro 2012 football tournament......testament that the country is indeed moving forward. 21 years is not very long to give a country to undo many years of oppression and stand on its own feet. |

"There is no excuse for beating to death disabled kids.
as for my profile, its my choice and my reasons to hide it. "
Atrocities like this happen in all countries....even in the UK. We having a failed care system for children, elderly and vulnerable people. Kids abused in care homes, elderly neglected etc. Ever thought that while we show such programs about other countries, other countries make documentaries about us? There is a classic documentary made about England a few years ago by Bosnia, highlighting reasons NOT to try and seek asylum or emigrate to the UK....shocking viewing! Still, as long as it doesn't affect us directly, we'll all do nothing about it apart from shed a tear or two, because let's face it, we don't actually care enough! You could always try fostering/adopting a disabled/disadvantaged child. Though may interfere with your work, swinging, social life etc....so best just moan, shed a tear, then carry on regardless shall we?

Ukraine is still a puppet state of Moscow despite its leanings towards The West.
It is a young country but much of the infrastructure is inherited and unchanged from the soviet era.
Whether that infrastructure will change in time will remain to be seen, but oligarchs (who often sway the major econo-political decisions and policies) are interested in the money to be made from oil, gas and steel for short term gain as opposed to long term investment in the country and it's infrastructure.
The shipyards of the Black Sea or the executive jet manufacturers are more likely to see the benefits of that investment than the health and social services in the Ukraine.
It is sad to see such spectacles of desperation played out on TV, but the momentum for change has got to come from within the Ukraine than from outside sources - the same as the UK should resolve it's own social issues.
We have the capability, we have the economic climate to support it, but do we have the will as a people to effect the change ?
I would love to see that Bosnian documentary - sounds really interesting ! |

Ukraine will have generated far more money co-hosting the Euros than what they've spent to stage it. The question that should be asked is: What are they going to do with that money.
