When I used to sit interviews one of the questions I used to hate was
Where do you see yourself in five/ten years time?
I know many had their lives planned out and knew exactly where they were going and what they wanted to to but I dont think I ever did or do now.
Have also being asked
If I could wave a magic wand and make you happy, what would it take?
Again for many would be easy but not for me
At the moment I just take each day as it comes and try not to think too far ahead
But if you were asked those questions could you answer better than me? |

No. I hate interviews which is why I used to do temp jobs then went self-employed.
If asked 'Where do you see yourself...' all that would be going round my head was 'I don't fucking know'.
Never had a massive mapped out life plan. Just take it as it comes  |

I hate those types of questions, they are so vague and meaningless.
If I were asked first question, I'd answer along lines of, in a better position I am today, hopefully.
And the magic wand happy question would get an answer along lines of. I am happy in this moment, even though you've asked a ridiculous question..

I think identifying a career path is really good... It definitely helps you to achieve more and it helps the interviewer see that you could grow into the role and helps them to think about career profession and succession planning (would give you the edge i think)
As an interviewer, its always good to hear things like i want to demonstrate mt leadership skills by x, y, z or i hope to have an indepth knowledge and be able to train other people / be a superuser, or design new processes, or i hope to be able to identify improvements to allow me to do x, y, z... Or i am passionate about the environment / corporate responsibility and hope to incorporate by x, y, z |

I once got offered a job on the spot when the area manager interviewing me asked where I wanted to be in 5 years time and I replied "doing your job...and if you're any good you'll still be my boss". Cocky little shit I was in my younger days  |

The only time I used the where do you see your self in 10 years question was when I was doing university auditions (performer arts course) as it was a way to determine a candidates goals and aspersions in the industry and if the course was suited for them for example I had one girl say she wanted to be a host on a TV chat show nothing we did would of helped that show she didn't get a place |

^^All those words^^ is also why I'm self-employed
