CH4 documentary last night. Some people have said they felt it didn't show Swinging properly.

What would *you* have in a documentary about Swinging?

In a club - blokes following ladies around, the lack of hygiene and the fact that some just have to have sex and it often doesn’t matter who that is with.

I would balance that out with some good stuff though

Delightful Bliss

I think it did tbf, they had couples looking for 3rds and swops. Single men and ladies, some dungeon play, and hot tub fun.

With the behind the scenes set up and clean up as well

What more can they show

Peoples emotions wise it showed a wide range of people from different backgrounds who go for different reasons

I thought they packed a lot into the hour.

They would have enough to do a few programmes, an hour was too short.

As for hygiene in a club it’s the customers duty as well as the club to provide this.

The amount of people that don’t clean up after themselves is rank.

That’s not the clubs fault.

Every club I’ve been to have anti bac spray, paper towels, clean sheets and towels.

It’s down to us as customers to respect the club and others and clean up after yourselves.

The Friendships formed, the great social events. The busy club events. The fun side. Even things like the forums. It’s really hard to put it all in a documentary but I hated the way it showed woman as damaged creatures.

"Tbh it has put me off from going to a club. It didn't look very hygienic."

I’ve been to a few clubs the only time I didn’t find one hygienic was a party event at chams.

Like Lexi says cleaning products are in every room. Bins are in rooms and emptied frequently. If anything is a miss staff will sort it immediately

So i imagined it would be quite vibrant with lots of mingling, flirting, touching, kissing, consensual fondling... Flirting!! in the bar... Like a party type vibe

But the reality reminded me of the club/pub my mum goes to

I wanna have fun and it looked like it would suck the life out if me... But I'm wondering if it was a fair representation, due to the cameras

I've been to TG and that was much more like the vibe i imagined

The play rooms weren't as i imagined... Which in my head are circular with flattering lighting and writhing bodies and a central wetroom, accessible to all play rooms

I may design my own club

It was definitely toned down.

The clubs I have been too are busier.

Dancing, flirting, socialising and some light play.

It’s like any event. Once people have relaxed the party gets started

I'd probably do a few episodes because I don't think you'd do something justice in a hour and a bit (as a general overview yeah). So I'd have the first episode set at a social - there would be a few different people going and you'd get a bit of an insight into why they started (and one would be a woman who did it not because of/in spite of the emotional trauma which isn't relevant). I'd show the real friendships, the excitement people have in meeting friends old and new at a social. I'd include a bit of drama because it's good tv and will show that swingers are human and get jealous too. I'd make it more on the social interactions on the first episode and then go from there.

Personally I thought it was a really well equipped club, I have seen far worst venues, ripped beds etc.

It showed a wide variation of clientele, their reasons for this life style.

The reality of club owners eg the clean up process.

I've never been to this particular club but its a definite one on my list to try.

I did find it hard to watch in places, newbies to clubs can find it very daunting but never ever take anything personally.

Never go with the expectation of play, go with the intention of meeting like minded people and have a laugh.

I really felt for the newbie couple where the female got upset at feeling 'left out'. All those other couples in there, who completely ignored them when they obviously just needed a few words of comfort to stop them feeling lost. It mirrored many of my visits as a single guy, but at least they had each other to console with.

Yes I agree, I found that hard to watch. I saw his pain at his partners distress if only we all see ourselves as our partners do eh!

I remember our first club visit (hubby and I) I was sooooo nervous my knees where shaking all night.

Swinging can bring out everything you want to hear and can also bring out every insecurity too.

It was a proper 'rabbit in the headlights' moment for that couple, it must have felt like the room was just spinning around them. Not one person was prepared to wander over and check they were ok, take them back in the hot tub or something to calm them down. So much for 'everyone is friendly in clubs'

A few more visits to a club should calm those nerves, I'm the kind of person who would have checked to see they were OK, thats the mother hen in me. 7yrs + in this I can spot newbies a mile away, I tend to fuss abit, I hate to see people feel that way. What people need to remember is they have also had their "first" club visit.

That scene upset me too and coudn't understand why nobody went to reassure her, my instinct would of been to go and comfort her, I have sat with people new and nervy in clubs. I can't help it

I think when you have been going for a while and get used to the scene it's easy to forget that some people are starting out and just need a little re assurance

But to be fair to the other couples, it wasn’t really a true club scenario and what are they supposed to do if they didn’t get on with them? Yes they could have said something placatory I guess, but is it their fault that she was so insecure with unrealistic expectations of what happens at a club?

And to answer the original question, I feel like it needed to have more to address the ‘swinging to spice up your sex life’ message that always gets thrown around. No disrespect to those involved, but some of the people in it had quite damaged pasts which kind of leads to the thought that there’s something ‘wrong’ with swingers.

The couple who didn’t get involved gave that sort of positive impression (but I’m not surprised as we have met them before) but I’m not sure the others did. I suppose you want drama and interest, rather than just boring people, but normal isn’t boring and I think it needed a bit more normal!
