"Why did you think it was disappointing ?"
I thought there would be more talking with other couples in it and that we would get the back story of why they swing. I suppose l thought it would be more indepth. At least it painted swinging in a positive light and didn't take piss like some docs do. |

It was ok. Showed how some people have the wrong idea of clubs that they will always play and the disappointment and rejection they feel when they dont. Pity they said about the sexual assault as non swingers might suggest that why she swings |

The only disappointing thing for me was falling asleep after tea and not waking till near 12
I've just watched the show and I thought it was great! I liked the mix of folk that featured, Siobhan was brilliant! The wife that cried because she felt nobody wanted her almost made me cry! I'm really glad they stayed and ended up in the play room again and they did enjoy having sex with each other in the company of others doing the same at least
I felt the show as a whole didn't paint the scene in any sort of bad light, good show |

I too felt sorry for the wife. Just needed to get nearer the orgy. Shame they did not move a bed closer. Glad she was ok in the end. |

I did get her point of view too in that she wanted to be invited into the bed but moving a little closer as you mentioned would probably have been a good move. Definitely glad they stayed and like I thought she was beautiful. I've read through the other threads and, while it probably did look off putting opening with used condoms lying about the place, I would hope at least that shows that safe sex is practiced at lubs and it's not just a hothouse for STDs etc. |

What it showed for me was the amazing amount of work behind the scenes to make it work. I’ve never been to liberty but have driven past numerous times so knew how big it was.
As for the scenes, I’ve only been around a few years and I still can’t get over how nice people are . Talking to people is so much easier than normal bars and clubs.
I hope to visit liberty when everything is back to normal.
Take care everyone |

Me too and you're right, some will always have a biased opinion and look for negatives but many wont. Those that watched with an open mind hopefully saw the truth of it, that swinging is enjoyed by normal folk who just want to spice up their sex lives |

I just watched it on All4.
Really enjoyed it actually. I've never been to a club before so it was good to have a proper look at it. I liked the variety of people in it. Made me cry a little bit but it made me smile too. |

Its unfortunate, for whatever reason, that it was so quiet. They sold the club as having a 200 capacity and said it was a major night yet 20 people in attendance tops looking at it.
It happens, as it does in most clubs, and I take it many people will have been put off by the cameras but I don't think it showed clubs in a great light.
The characters that they covered were obviously those that the woman who was on here last year looking for typical swingers and to be fair i thought it mostly representative except for one single male and two single fems.
I did think the people who attended were relatively new to the scene apart from Siobhan, who is probably inexperienced in clubs or on a couples night like that came across. I imagine Siobhan would be much more at home on a bi night if they hold them.
One thing I'm glad they mentioned was that nothing is guaranteed and its always best to not have any expectations.
Good luck to them all anyway. |

At least it dispelled the common inaccuracies to the outside world. The uneducated views or guesses about swingers clubs. Not just walk in, get kit off and join a writhing throng of bodies. Ive been to a club where there was a 25 th anniversary going on, great laugh.
The dancer was rather stunning too
Did feel sorry for the lady that got upset.. think she might have given off the vibe that she was insecure about herself. Hold ya head up lady, believe in yourself more. Others will sense it too. Maybe expected too much on first visit, set herself for the fall. Onwards and upwards sweetheart!
All those that featured were candid, honest and got some balls to do it publicly.
Better a documentary than an slanted view expose

I cant get the keyboard to put the ‘ , above the E,
Exspose-ay , sorry for confusion . It wasn’t portrayed as sensationalist media uncovering dirty secrets, but a proper documentary. Which was great. Like you say not in a negative light, from people that have no clue or first hand experience of the swinging scene/way of life.
I got outed at my grandads funeral.. in front of everyone at the wake, my sister opens her tipsy trap and loudly tells my parents and family” ady’s a swinger and goes to swinger clubs “ . A few oldies looked like they just licked a car battery, but thankfully parents laughed and said “ good on ya son”. What a place and time to have that revealed !!
Yeah we should be proud fella. Nothing to be ashamed of. Its our choice and sod those that think otherwise. Id rather have a night in swingers club, amongst lovely friendly people and not play than down the pub with idiots getting hammered. |

The upset wife A sex club isn't the way to go to build confidence.
I'd be bloody dangerous in one of those clubs. Perhaps it best I don't x |

I was a lot better than I thought it was going to be.
It's hard to portray a swinging club in a documentary because very few people would want to go on camera like that. Kudos to those who did.
I thought it was pretty good representation of what a club is like. As a single male, I thought Martyn represented single guys well.
I didn't like that most single people were portrayed as emotionally damaged/unavailable and that was their reason for coming onto the scene. True for some I'd imagine, but I cannot relate to that.
Equally, the couple where the lady got upset, I felt like she was on the scene looking primarily for sexual validation and I don't feel like thats ever going to end well.
Rejection, however direct or indirect is part and parcel for the swinging scene.
I feel you need to able to handle rejection better than that because going on like that, you'll inadvertently ruin the night of others around you too.
I can imagine Libs gets rammed at times. |

Here here.
In the 4 years I've been on the scene I've met so many lovely people and made so many friends. It really helped me when I realised that my marrige was over too in that it boosted my confidence and made me a much better person I'd say. After 30 year without being appreciated and a sexless loveless marriage for at least 4 prior to swinging to have ladies want you and show interest in you is a massive plus.
Its not all sweetness and light though as I discovered at an early stage as there's plenty of nasty people on the scene too but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and wiser I'd have to say.
I just hope its allowed to recover soon by the idiots incharge of the country as I'm sick and tired of posh wanks and miss all of my friends. |

I suspect they didn't do their homework before going. Most clubs have help for newbies visiting and one of the main messages they try and get over is that nothing is guaranteed and if you go with expectations then you're setting yourself up for a fall.
Its just inexperience and lack of confidence with first night nerves. Totally agree its not for the feint hearted if you lack confidence as rejection is part and parcel of swinging and if you choose not to accept it you're gonna have a tough time of it.
I guess I was lucky as I live near enough to a decent club and once I started it got its hooks in good and proper. Started the end of July 2016 then in GC early Oct same year.
I actually went to my local club 8 times in one week so you see what I mean about hooked. |

I was similar to yourself and hit GC in the first few months it certainly is a different animal to here but i love the atmosphere and the diversity with all the different nationalities. I have given it a rest since a year last march as I was going too much and gave the states a try instead. Interesting place but as theres so few decent single males that follow thr basic rules and etiquette many couples blanket hate single males which can make just having a pleasant conversation without it going any further difficult in its self. I'd still recommend it to anyone as an experience and I had fun every night I went as I know how to behave appropriately.
Do you mind me asking if you have been back to Libs or have you not had the chance because I wasn't sure if it was this Feb or last Feb? |

We hadn't known there was a programe on and came across it by accident.
I was suprised by the club though, it wasn't how i imagined Libs would be. I was also suprised by the people featured too, not sure why really, just not my experience of swingers in a club.... having been going to Chams for 15 years, Club 29 for 3/4 years ... although i know Libs is a very different type of club.
It wouldn't make me want to go Libs or indeed any club |

I thought it was an interesting watch, but did in my opinion give a slight angle of swingers or those that attend clubs for sex do so becuase in some way they are emtionally damaged or have been on the past.
It was almost looking for a justification angle, which I don't believe it needed.
Other than that I though the club looked ok, and yes the opening scene was a bit grim, but I guess they wanted to show what workers put up with in the aftermath. Those that have been to clubs know that there will always be the messy ones that don't tidy up or have respect for fellow users of the facilities.
Certainly wasn't as bad as it could have been. |

Ive been to Libs and the programme didn't portray it as good as it could. It's a whole lot nicer than it came across last night and a whole load busier with a great atmosphere.

It was a specially arranged night on the Sunday after Valentines so only people who were happy to be in it were there, which made it an unrealistic portrayal of a night at a club which was a bit unfortunate. Would have been better to have been on a busier night but then you couldn’t have done that because of the permission to be filmed etc.

Overall I was a bit disappointed. We were approached to be in it and very nearly agreed. They liked our back story of meeting as singles on Fab then getting engaged etc, and I think that kind of story would have helped dispel the myth that it’s only people with problems with their sex life who do it. But as it was, that element didn’t come across as much as I think it should have.
The quietness of the club didn’t give a true portrayal although it was good to see behind the scenes a bit more.
As for them not being real, we’ve met one of the main couples and one in the background too so they definitely are swingers!

I enjoyed watching and thought it gave a pretty good insight..
I have been to one club and each time only played with the partner I went with..dont think im brave enough to go it alone as yet..
I like the fact that there is a hotel too so you can get ready and stay there for the night instead of rushing off home..
The club looked great to me too.. i wouldnt mind going qnd giving it a go |

I was quite impressed with it if I’m honest. As it started I thought it was going to be another “tongue in cheek” mockumentary like the dogging one a few years ago. I’ve not been to Libs, but from my experience locally, I would say it was as good as its going to be given that most in the scene wouldn’t want to be on camera. |

As for the couples first visit, We were saying how nervous we were for our first club visit there would be no way we would have had a camera following our every move.

I felt it portrayed that most the people who go to swingers clubs have had or have a problem with their sex life either now or in the past. I think it gave the wrong impression.
The people who took part are very brave though, you couldn't keep your swinging life private now |

"
Explains it a tad better, thanks. Its probably why it came across a bit staged.
I could believe how few were there unless it was the camera that had scared them off maybe.
It is a disgrace that people have to hide there identity in this day and age for fear of repercussions from their employer.
If they were doing it in work time ok but it should be classed the same as if a person does whatever behind closed doors with another consenting adult is their own business and no one elses. |

The couple who they said were choosy? If them then Yes as they were going through someone's message that had messaged them.
Dont know their fab name though but the single guy is above somewhere so you could ask him if he could help. Channel 4 had a support line on their website try there? |

"I thought it was an interesting watch, but did in my opinion give a slight angle of swingers or those that attend clubs for sex do so becuase in some way they are emtionally damaged or have been on the past.
I don't think it is that wrong to raise this point as in my experience there are an awful lot of people who turn to swinging when emotionally damaged in one way or another. Not all obviously but an awful lot and I include myself in that number although I can't tank the scene and the wonderful people I've met enough for helping me. This has worked for me but it doesn't for everyone. |

"Its unfortunate, for whatever reason, that it was so quiet. They sold the club as having a 200 capacity and said it was a major night yet 20 people in attendance tops looking at it.

We decided not to do it in the end purely because of our kids, being at tricky ages. Our friends and some colleagues know so it’s not a massive secret, we just weren’t ready to be totally out there quite yet! |

Yeah I’m not being funny but I don’t see how people can openly flaunt what they do as well as have sex on camera for the nation and think it’s acceptable. This whole thing is private for a reason |

It’s not their private time; they are on national television!
Swinging isn’t a mainstream activity! For good reason! Which is why I like it! |

I thought it was a good representation.
I liked that they showed the lady who got upset. It showed that swingers don't fuck everyone. People have choices.
The people on the bed were having fun and did not have to ask others to join in. I felt bad for her getting upset but it wasn't personal. Hopefully she will realise that. |

I've had nights worse than that but hundreds better. I hope that is not a true representation for anyone's club night as they need to try a few other clubs if that's the case. A club needs atmosphere and due to the numbers in such a large club I personal felt lost a lot. Its a shame they didn't explain all this on the program as I didn't feel it sold clubs thst well at all. The only laugh I saw all night was the put on one by the guy at the bar with the first timers. I have a great laugh when ever I go to clubs and parties and it relaxes people. At the end of the day its just a bit of fun between people holding similar interests and we call it fun so there should always be a fun element. |

We understand that there will always be people with their own theories but we can assure you that they were real swingers and no one had any form of payment. Everyone volunteered to do the documentary. |

The thing I found disappointing/shocking was the temperature they wash the towels and bedding at
As for the rest of the documentary it seems fairly representative of swingers I’ve encountered on Fab but I have nothing else to compare it to.
The owner of the club talked a lot of sense regarding swinging.
Those that took part came across well. The lady that cried was upsetting but I’ve seen a lot of insecure swingers on Fab so it wasn’t surprising. I have enjoyed getting to know why/how ppl started swinging while being on Fab. The explanations given on the documentary for the most part were things I’ve heard quite frequently. |

I agree Pink - I was surprised at the 40 degrees to be honest. That aside, I enjoyed the documentary and it showed a good cross section of reasons and hopes for the swingers. They all came across well. |

Believe me Fab is definitely not representative of swinging and especially since Covid. I just hope it can claw back some of the other real swingers when meets start again because it is flooded with too many people who may talk the talk but have never walked the walk and the quality has plummeted Im afraid. |

Biologic washing powder - works better at the lower temp and would be most appropriate for breaking down the protein rich body fluids that might be on the bedding/towels |

Just watched it on catch up.
We are new to the swinging scene and have never been to a club. If the programme is is a true reflection then it will probably stay that way.
We are planning a visit to Chameleon’s in November so hopefully someone will tell us that’s better?

It's not a true representation but there's never a guarantee it will be amazing wherever you go. Dont let that put you off but check whats happening direct with the club well in advance and let them know your plans. |

To be honest I’m not sure what our expectations were before watching the programme.
I think we expected to see more people there and somewhere a little more plush lol
They described it as a classy wine bar but we thought it more like a local pub.
I don’t think it helped when they seemed to focus on the people’s issues but I guess that’s what the public want to see |

As mentioned before, it was a specially arranged night on a Sunday during the middle of a storm in February! Only people there were those who’d been invited and/or agreed to be filmed, hence why it wasn’t anywhere near the usual level of custom and a different atmosphere.
I’m sure if they’d just rocked up at a normal Valentines party to film, the club would have been speedily empty! Shame they didn’t make that clear though as it didn’t help with giving a true representation of what a club night is like. And with more people, everyone would have had more of a chance to find couples/singles they wanted to play with |

"As a representation of a special night out for a swingers sexual lifestyle I thought it came across as boring and very un sexy.
I agree "
It actually doesn't matter where you are to be fair. Its all about the people who are there and the mood they are in. That includes staff but obviously the few there the less opportunities there are for anyone.
Ive been in clubs with exactly the same people and one night could be amazing and the other duff.
The key is try to expect nothing and go with an attitude of just getting to know people and having a laugh. Be relaxed do your homework about the club prior to going and once enabled again browse who are going to an event and get chatting beforehand. Just friiendly flirty innuendo filled chat without being overly rude and remembering its not all about your satisfaction but preferably everyone having a good time. Simples |

I thought the owner and the staff came across very well. It was interesting seeing how the people taking part interacted, or not ~ I did feel a bit sad for the couple who hadn't been before.

Hey beaut.
I just wanted to say thank you.
I've been feeling like absolute shite these past few months. Felt like this place and the scene itself was toxic due to my recent relationship catastrophe. You have reminded me that even though I've no sexual desire or libido at the moment because of that, that it's ok.
That by sticking to my guns and not wanting to make future plans isn't just me having my life ruined, it's me being empowered and doing what's right for me right now.
So again, thank you for reminding me of something I was overlooking xx |

What annoyed me is the implication that single women are somehow damaged to the point they are beyond loving anyone, to be a swinger.
I understand it was a character driven doc, but not all ladies that swing have no trust in men.
Come to think of it, that was kind of the slant they used for Martyn (been hurt one too many times) and the new to the scene couple (her body insecurities) too.
Some people just love sex and intimacy but not relationships in the traditional sense and I think the film makers missed that point entirely.
The ckub owner was adorable though x |

Yes, the editorial agenda was trite and sanctimonious - only true love can save these poor lost sheep.
It may be that survivors of abuse and trauma are significantly over-represented among swingers but this was not an exploration of that thesis, simply an attempt to rationalise the behaviour of swingers through conventional morals. |

I honestly thought the lady in the new couple with the meltdown was awful; she seemed so disrespectful to her partner who seemed to try to cater to her every whim. You cannot find validation in a stranger's desire to fuck you, it is destructive and pointless and will inevitably burn you out, as she found out.
Body image issues are horrific to deal with but she needed an attitude overhaul in my opinion, and I don't think she'll find any joy in swinging until she resolves it.

In these documentaries on swinging you get the same old same old every time. Without watching it I predict that it covered:
1) People swinging because they have had relationship issues.
2) A couple where 1 person felt forced to do it.
3) A zany character (older, dress sense, odd behaviour etc).
4) The phrase 'They're just like normal people'.
5) A newbie who is keen to try but it doesn't go to plan.
6) A female stunner with a sob story.
7) A weird guy. |

Agreed
Only been to a club once and while this was quieter I think it gave a good representation of a club....apart from no TVs there on the night |

"the real problem for that night was it was filmed in february when storm dennis was in full flow so alot of the people who were due to attend were flooded and couldnt make it to the night thats all nothing else.
As for the actors comment i can assure you now i am in no way an actor if that didnt come across
Martyn you came across very well, also you were lovely with Siobhan too, it was a great doc, I enjoyed it very much x
"

Just watched the documentary and found it not quite true to the real club scene. That’s only because there were cameras there.
The club I’ve been to in the north west (TH) has always been busy, lots more people there and probably the average age you’ll have seen is 10years older. On most occasions I’ve been I’ve not been the only Tgirls so on that account its portrayal is not quite right.
One thing is that you shouldn’t be shy in asking to join in. And do chat to everyone, be sociable and don’t expect to get laid every visit. Treat it as a social event and not a sex club. |

We are all just ourselves and no one should judge anyone as they don't have everyone's gull story bud.
Just a shame there wasn't that many people there but I'm sure you enjoyed the night.
Have you been back or had the chance to try any other clubs since and if that's a yes what did you think in comparison? |

Anyone who’s ever been to Chic at VA will tell you it’s the polar opposite to what was portrayed. Ibiza djs, borderline models walking around in exquisite lingerie, lots of fucking. And everyone doesn’t want to advertise that they do this kind of thing.
Get people who want to show off and this is what you’ll end up.
John is a lovely guy by the way, actually really sweet.

If they did a doc on the brilliant Chic nights you would only get complaints about how it’s not representative of the scene at all. And the usual complaints about it excluding people.
No documentary is ever going to win with all the different facets of the scene. |

Watched it and I was right. Same old, same old. Nothing new or ground breaking. I don't know what people were expecting. We're swingers, not vampires. |

And on the back of "Chic" at VA, if that's exactly how it is then people like me... average at best in looks, barely a penny to my name and live alone in my council house, well, I think that would do nothing but damage my confidence and make me feel excluded. The programme was about inclusiveness in my eyes, that you DON'T have to look like a pornstar or model to be able to enjoy sex, not the opposite. |

Exactly. It would have needed to be hours and hours long and visit multiple locations with people from all walks of life and into all different things to truly capture the scene as a whole |

Chic really isn't filled with lingerie models and lots of fucking everywhere. I mean there are very attractive people sure but I'm not a pornstar/model and I went and enjoyed sex and the general atmosphere. It is different to the night showed. You're right, you can't please everyone nor show the myriad of different events in a hour and a bit. |

Every event I've ever been to around the country, unless it is specifically catered to a certain demographic, the people in attendance have been as varied as at the local supermarket. One exception to that might be some of the posier events in London which are more of a fashion parade than a play event and attract more model types. They're usually ones you can be turned away for not being extravagantly enough dressed though so easy to spot and avoid if not your scene. |

Don't be hard on yourself, Cali. You're a great looking lady and fit as from what I can see from you profile. I'd be thrilled to share some quality time with yourself inside or outside the scene, whether on my arm (or any other part of my body) or just as a platonic mate
I appreciate what you said above this but people are nasty pricks at times so don't change what you do because of them and always do what you want to do. X |
