Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum |
I should have gone to an exercise class tonight but decided last minute I couldn't be arsed to. The main problem is that the place is a 45 min bus journey from where I live and, after a days work, I am not always in the mood. Luckily there is a new leisure centre opening near me in a few months but until then, I need motivation!!
I know there are a few successful losers of weight and exercisers on here, so let me know your tips with regards to getting off your arse and exercising, because I seem to have lost all my get up and go. |

Music is great for motivation..... but you could try it whilst giving yourself a task to do... it will keep you going longer than thinking what exercises to do next.
Cleaning the pantry is great. Lifting, bending, squatting, stretching.... all with small weights (tins, pans ect) as you take everything out and then put it all back again. |

I have a dog that requires regular walking/exercising.
I take up cycling so that he can cycle next to the bike along tow paths/forest trails etc...
On top of that, I took up tap dancing again, which is something I enjoyed in the past and liked.
Apart from that, I don't do much else. However, my weight is relatively steady, and I don't have to count calories and watch what I eat.

I've lost two and a half stones already this year, simply by having to walk to and from work each day, due to a lack of public transport linking where I live and where I work.
I walk over 3 miles a day. It isn't for everyone I know, but needs must for me, and it has worked. |

If you want to have motivation to keep fit, you need to have a goal in mind or something like a hobby.
Mountain biking, hiking, watersports (not the dirty kind!) any outdoor activity that requires more than 2 brain cells and physical exertion.
I do weighlifting because its good for what I do in sports at university and I enjoy getting stronger.
have a motivational factor otherwise you'll drop out. |

Xbox Kinnect is pricier, but I prefer it...less faffing with batteries for remotes because you are the remote! Plus it does the whole body not just one arm..will keep my Wii for Mario Kart and stuff, but my Wii board has died and I doubt I'll bother replacing it x

where the wii and balance board comes into its own is where it tells if you are offline with your posture and gets you working on your core balance

The best and easiest way is to incorporate it into your normal routine - what you always do everyday anyway - or change things just a little.
For instance - if you drive - ditch the car and walk or cycle. Even if just to the train station that could be 20 mins aerobic exercise twice a day.
When you walk, stand tall hold in you rtummy, use your arms, walk fast enough to raise your pulse and your breathing and to sweat a bit.
If you already take the bus - walk to the next bus stop along instead and get off sooner.
You'd only have to leave the house 10-15 minutes sooner than you do.
Also do some abs for 10 mins in am and before bed.
I've lost 5 stones in a year!

I used to be 18 stone the only person who made me lose 5 stone in 8 months and keep my weight around 13 stone was myself. I'm now a personal trainer and work hard. Other people can help you along the way which is always good but that final push comes from yourself. Keep pushing and you'll get the body you want you always have to have that image and your fitness goal in mind. |

i dont drive so i bike everywhere, i think i spend on average 2 hours a day on my bike, it makes a huge difference, instead of getting a bus for 45 mins bike it, will be quicker and burn off extra cals too, i even do my shopping on my bike, i have a trailer for the back and i load it up and peddle back home lol |

I walk everywhere so thats already done. I have a phobia about cycling round York but can do the static bike at the gym. I do go to the gym most lunchtimes but it doesn't seem to be having an effect so would like to do more. The only problem is that there aren't many classes or clubs near me, and buses in York aren't the best. |

No, we don't have one of those.
There is a council run gym but its 45 mins each way by bus. I'll just have to hold out til the university open theirs. |

You dont need a gym, use what you have around the house, press up on the work surface when the kettles boiling, use beans as arm weights, or a bag of shopping in a carrier bag for weights. do leg exercises holding a chair, run up and down stairs.
Trust me you can do it this way |
