I went to get my hair cut today and noticed the price had gone up by 30% I know people have to earn a living but that is crazy

I am wondering if because of covid places are putting prices up to offset loss of business

Guess its understandable to increase prices considering they have been forced to close business for over 4 months with no income.

Bit different compared to the likes of MacDonald's, KFC etc...

It's also possible they are having to limit numbers and use additional cleaning protocols, which impacts on the profit in a haircut

I dont see why salons have put there prices up. Nothing has increased at my warehouse as in stock price rise.

Im not critising any salon as we've had a shocking 4 months in lockdown, but feel some people are taking advantage and trying to make some money back...

My prices have not altered at all...

Loss of business during lockdown, purchasing and frequent cleaning of PPE for all staff, limiting customer numbers, many only offering appointments so no walk in trade.

Mine went up 20% and frankly I'm grateful they're still there and operating in a safe manner.

Its been busier than any Christmas/new year I have ever experienced in my 25yrs of business and most salons will have received the 10k funding..

PPE and appointments only as altered things a little but I can honestly say we are doing exceptionally well and my clients are really happy of no increase and leaving very generous tips....Love my job and clients so much..

If only they sold hair clippers online Or in the high street so you could do it yourself, Experts warn this type of technology is along way off though

They have right to set their own prices so if they feel they have to go for it. If people are not happy then you don't have to go there find a cheaper alternative or grow it.

The pricing at mine has always been a but random, but not really noticing much difference... And to be honest, she is so good I'd probably pay double

I see a post on Reddit a few weeks back where a bar receipt showed a covid cover of €2 pp, as bit much on top of the bill of €180 odd.

For clarity, my barber has increased his prices (pre-covid)

from €15 to €18 to the current pricing of €20 for a beard grooming session.

Time has also reduced from 45 mins to 30 mins also.

The above happened within a 9 month period.

I still go there but if the prices continue the same trend again soon, I will be looking for another barber.

Chams or Socials

I had mine done yesterday & understand the increases. I was given a sealed pack with my cape & disposable (recyclable) towel. The area was was cleaned down with anti-viral spray. I was put in wrong area so moved & the other was cleaned down again. Screens out up between the sink areas & potable screens if needed between the cutting areas. All products were cleaned down after each use. Appointments have to be staggered & less staff/less appointments. No drinks served.

It was worth every penny though

Probably takes a third longer to sort out people's own attempts at a DIY cut
