I am not always a huge sports fan but do keep an interest in some, mainly as a source of conversation with friends who are.
But I do love sport based movies, especially baseball ones.
Some of my favourite sporting films are
The Natural
Field of Dreams
Eight Men Out
A League of Their Own
Midnight Sting
Coach Carter
Moneyball
Hoosiers
What are yours? |

"United film about Man Utd and the Munich air disaster and Rush the F1 season where Nikki Lauda and James Hunt competing for the title which had lots of twists and turns"
Some of the scenes in Rush were filmed at Cadwell Park, Lincolnshire. If you know the track well you can easily see which scenes were filmed there |

"The Damned United
A brilliant book but Michael Sheen as Clough berating the Chairman of Derby County is priceless!"
Great film though if memory clough's family were not too happy with it |

I think the book generated quite a bit of litigation from former players too |

"Le Mans
a.k.a. Ford vs Ferrari, great movie "
One of the stories that pisses me off most, Ken Miles part in the development and success has mainly been forgotten and Carroll Shelby gets all the credit. |

There and to the left a bit |
"I agree that Rush is a great film. I'm a bit formula 1 fan and it was just directed brilliantly "
I follow Ron Howard on Twitter and did so around the time that was in development - he tweeted every day about what he was doing, from location reviews to scripting, casting etc. was fascinating and then to see it finished and be able to relate to how it was made just added to it |

How about 'The Hurricane' about Rubin Carter, or is that more a crime/drama/justice film?
I tend to like the films that concentrate more on the person than their achievements I guess. |

An excellent film, biopics are usually very engaging.
Denzel was great in it. The actor whose character campaigned for his release equally so.
Rule of thumb for me is any Denzel film is usually a great watch.

Obviously Marvellous, Escape to victory and I'm hoping people are referring to the original Mean Machine with Burt Reynolds, and cant believe no body has mentioned The Hustler and The Colo(u)r of Money |

Mean Machine was the Jason Statham version, Burt Reynolds was in both versions of The Longest Yard |

"Marvelous.
Little British film about the life of Neil Baldwin and his role as the kit man at Stoke City amongst other things. "
I loved that film; I think Toby Jones is such a good actor. Cool Runnings too |

footage of Spa was actually filmed at Donington Park and many of the stewards are in the film as extras....currently sitting at the esses watching trucks ruin the turf around the edge of the track #gonnabealongday
