England were feckin rubbish in that half. No imagination, no depth, and Rooney playing like he's got a brick up his arse. Not one single shot - on target or otherwise from England! |

"Rooney is struggling to settle into this game. He should have been on the bench."
I think Roy's thinking that Rooney needs to play at some point as he needs to sharpen him up for the possible quarters.
And I'd rather have Walcott and Carroll as impact subs as they've proven they can deliver in that respect.
Keep the faith. |

"that was a goal for ukraine,,glad england are still ahead,,but just had to say it.
and ask the question of why them fourth and fifth officals are even feckin there"
Look at the reply. They stop the film the moment the ball starts travelling back in the opposite direction - and you don't see the whole of the ball past the goalpost. It wasn't a goal. |

the ball was well over the line,,the problem with the replay is,,it doesnt show the whole ball because the cam is not on the goal line,,it is a bit infront,,

"If I was Rooney id be asking for a refund on that hair transplant!
I think they did it with a bald guy"
He does look a bit of a dick with it. You'd think his wife would give him some beauty advice and say sommat like, "Eh, our Wayne, ya look a right divvy, shave it off man!" |

"I do wonder what those touch line refs actually do! The ball was definitely over but it's obscured by Terry's boot rapidly closing in on it!"
In actual play, things happen so quickly. I referee myself, and know I make mistakes, but I expect teams to believe I give what I see, & am impartial. My first impression, watching on TV, was a goal, but a replay could equally have proven me wrong. |

"Rooney is struggling to settle into this game. He should have been on the bench."
Wayne Rooney is overrated. I remember an England player in a similar vein to Rooney and Alf Ramsey kept on including him in the side when he was clearly a liability, so much that when he eventually got the ball all the England supporters used to start doing donkey brays! The player in question was Roy Macfarlain. |

I always thought he was ok. A far better pick than , say, Carragher in 2010. But, when I see Geoff Thomas picked for England, can't understand why Stephen Hawkins wasn't capped. |

Had he been that good our Brian would have dragged him down the A52 with the other ambitious Derby players to conquer Europe twice |

"why the hell have a ref by the goal line if they cant see that should be 1-1
The ukrainian was offside "
totally agree about the offside. the guy who played the ball was in offsdie position when original ball was played forward. it wasnt aimed for him but it doesnt matter as he was the first attaker to touch it after the pass therefore was active. ok the ball did cross the line but he was offside anyway so justice was done.

That's a sticky one. The guy was in an offside position at one point in the play but he wasn't flagged for it as the linesman had no way of knowing if he would have been the recipient of the ball. The pass was made and the guy who eventually received the ball was onside at the moment the ball was played forward - that's the rule. If everyone who is ever in an offside position is flagged for it the game would be stopped every 5 minutes for a free kick.
The Ukrainians scored a goal that wasn't given, it happens, as we well know from the Germany game 2 years ago. The difference now is that goal-line technology is being trialled at this tournament and I think we'll see less and less of this type of incident in the future. |

actually the first guy to get the ball was the one in an offside position. |
