I think the message being sent out by the governing bodies is pretty sad.
To fine someone wearing advertising more than they did an fa for racism is shambollic. It just shows they are only interested in the kick backs earned from sponsorship.
It was partly covered over with the world cup votes, but again is comming to the foreground.
It won't be long until international football is scrapped as there is little money in it. |

"Anyway you would have to be a bit of a nob to have paddypower pants on if you are a top class footballer. "
They reckon he got £500k for doing it, he's not on Rooney type wages, I can see why he did it. |

As for the Ops question, UEFA see racism as a bit of an inconvenience and somebody elses problem.
They have a few soundbites and political slogans about kicking it out, but they're not serious. |

Maybe the innocent individuals who happen to be a different race and have simply gone to enjoy a football match but have to listen to their bile. |

The fines are all over the place. Look at Bendtner's fine compared the piddly £8,000 Nalbandian got for kicking the living shit out of a linesman. (Even if it was funny to watch)
Any way back on topic.
UEFA are joke full stop. Corrupt at every level. Fighting racism only interests them if there is money to made from it. |

Fifa pay lip service to topical issues if it's in their interest to do so. I read a football quarterly e-zine called The Blizzard and it's reporters cover issues the mainstream press won't print and a recent article in the latest issue is an in-depth look at the World Cups of 2018/22 and how they were awarded. If anyone has any doubts about Fifa and their quest to curb racism in football I'd suggest you have a good read about the World Cup bissing process to see exactly how important topical issues really are to the 24-man Exco (Executive Committee) who govern world football.
The Croat 'fans', who have launched flares at every game they played in this tournament, must be laughing their bollocks off at fines issued by Eufa and I'm sure the Croat FA will hand over a cheque for $65k and recieve a much bigger one the next time a tournament is up for bidding. |

I was in Ukraine last year and the people were great...
I couldnt speak a word to them or them to me.. And we're always polite and friendly..
There were various colours of skin and nationalities and I never seen a problem..
No different there to anywhere else..
Just press hype... |

Wasn't it nice to see the two mixed race Dutch ladies being asked about the racism in Poland.... and them saying every had been lovely and really friendly.
As for the fans at matches... well none of our English fans ever shout any comments of a racist nature, so we can hold our heads up high....
I kind of feel sorry for the teams who are fined for the fans behaviour in international tournaments... it's not like they have the final say in who can go or not.... where as individuals who actually are footballers, well they are responsible for them. |

UEFA fined Porto £16,700 in April after their fans subjected the Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli to prolonged racist abuse in the Europa League.
Paddy Power are going to pay Bendtners fine. The fine has given them 100x the publicity they were expecting.
Meanwhile Russian fans unveil a huge flag in Poland saying 'This is Russia' and get a 24k fine. which just goes to show what an arse Platini is.
Still as long as McDonalds,Carlsberg,Coca Cola and Orange maintain their exclusivity whats a few racist banners and some thrown bananas?

i think they only look at gaining money through fines and couldnt give a damn about the issues or some of these nations would always play behind closed doors. |

Newcastle and Gateshead |
it was the exact point rio ferdinand and Vincent Kompany made on twitter today.... you fine a player more for showing his pants then you do a country for racially abusing players...
but then again this is the same UEFA that only fined the Spanish FA 12k for the Abuse England players got in Madrid...
the same UEFA that fined macedonia 2 grand,
the same UEFA that brushed aside the abuse the dutch team got in Krackow... and the same UEFA who said that any person who is racially abused and decided to walk off the pitch would get a yellow card.......
its just not looked at as seriously as it is in the UK..... |

I am going out on a limb here... but I'm willing to guess EUFA take racism more seriously and do more about fighting racism than the vast majority of people who bitch about EUFA not taking racism seriously. |

Expect to see John Terry announce his immediate retirement from international football the instant England exit this tournament. He knows what he said to Anton Ferdinand and he knows what the punishment will be when it's proven he is a racist. He shouldn't even be in the team let alone have been captain TWICE, but he did clear the ball off the line last night and if Rio was playing last night he would have high-fived him for that.
It's a funny old game. |

"These are football fans . We can't expect too much from them can we? After all, the typical football fan is hardly the brightest tool in the toolbox."
