Whilst in Asda late yesterday afternoon, they played on their radio station Amy Winehouse's Back to Black, this surprised me as there are sexual and drug related references in the song, do you think this is appropriate when it is a family store and children are about? |

I have never seen children listen that intently to supermarket radio.
They are usually too busy tear arsing round, screaming, getting under my feet, pulling things off shelves that Mummy doesn't want or clinging for dear life onto the front of the trolley to notice.
I do my best to shop when they should be in bed |

It depends how a person interprets a songs' lyric and their understanding of how the song is meant to be perceived.
I understand what you mean though.
Not many people listen to a songs versus just the chorus.
Has anyone heard 'We are young'? A big chart hit but it has drugs, physical abuse/man hitting girl etc.
Give me a second I
I need to get my story straight
My friends are in the bathroom
getting higher than the empire state
my lover she is waiting for me
just across the bar
My seat's been taken by some sunglasses
asking 'bout a scar
and I know I gave it to you months ago
I know you're trying to forget
but between the drinks and subtle things
the holes in my apologies
you know I'm trying hard to take it back
so if by the time the bar closes
and you feel like falling down
I'll carry you home

Yes some can be interpreted differently although the opening lines to Back to Black are
He had no time for regret
kept his dick wet
with his same old safe bet |

There's plenty of 'contraversial' stuff played in my local supermarkets!
Ed sheeran's 'A Team' is a recent biggie - but the funniest ever was when they were promoting Lily Allens album and they put the non edited version on in Cheltenham tesco's - was amusing walking up and down the ailses singing along to 'fuck you' for a couple of mins before the management stepped in!
And there was me thinking it was their customer services theme tune!! |
