What a bloody shambles is all!

My son is getting his gcse results this week but they don't count as the government has decided to go with the reacher assessment. Better for him and no doubt all the students. I have heard people saying they have to wait another week but not seen anything official. I mean they start A levels in 2 weeks!!!!

Any of your little people affected?

Our son was lucky that he managed to complete his BTEC work in his home studio and got his genuine results. I'm pleased he ended up doing the BTEC instead of A levels.

Yes, that is lucky. One of our Saturday boys hasn't had his yet meaning his uni can't offer him a place.

Well look on the positive aside teachers generous assessments have put up grades 15% not bad for not sitting an exam.

Its not as straightforward as that. Each year, the exam board limits the percentage of papers that can receive each grade. That means that the score required for an A, B, C etc is not the same each year. One year, if a paper is especially hard or the cohort weaker, let's say 60% will put you in the A grade bracket. If the paper is easier the next year, if the cohort stronger, you might need to score 75%+ to get an A. Teachers haven't been given percentage scores to refer to this year, only descriptors of the grades. They've then been asked to rank every child within each grade and a whole host of internal moderation has happened before the final centre assessed grades were submitted to the exam board.
