If anyone saw the moto 2 and motogp races yesterday, then the 4 riders involved in 2 massive crashes, and also the 2 guys in the gp race that nearly lost their heads to flying bike parts at 150mph must realise just how lucky they all are to escape uninjured. All of that to put on a show of entertainment for fans, who cant even be there to see them.

It’s what they do.

It’s what makes them who they are.

I respect them but fuck that.

very lucky.

i came off at mugello when kawasaki were testing the first 1000cc moto gp bikes and travelled from just after the pits to san donato fencing.

the bike was going over around 320km/h and because these were new bikes with more power the tyres were unable to cope and melted locking the front wheel sending me head first to the track.

before the crash i was 5ft 5 after i was 5ft 3 and it took over a year to get myself anywhere close to running.

to this day i cant remember the crash only thing was about a week later a factory kawasaki rider had the same crash i did yet he got up and walked away.

now they are doing 360kmh which is around 225mph or more.

Not racing but I was pretty smashed up 25yrs ago & still live with the consequences, totally oblivious till I woke up in intensive care days later. I as hit by a speeding red light jumping van.

I came off on an innocuous left hander last summer & the bike went under a truck going the other way & ended up like Zarco’s bike & I watched a truck wheel go past inches from my face as luckily I stayed on the right side of the road

Just cuts & bruises that time, I still ride as I’m a fatalist, a riding buddy said “How the hell?, barely a scratch!” I just said “It wasn’t my time”.

As I said to some mates watching the racing it’s the close calls & offs people have zero control over that’ll stop you riding or racing in my opinion as the what ifs go around & around your head.

Unless your a fatalist, then you just believe in it not being your time & continue on your merry way.
