Yes I do, always.

Though one day it caught me out and there were 4/5 people all behind me, I felt I couldn't let one without letting all through

I'm also very aware that some may be on lunch breaks and their time is limited.

Never! How can you? It’s like that thing where before you pull out in your car your wait an extra second I’m case someone was about to walk out into the road. By waiting a second you saved them. If the person I let in then rushed outside and got hit by a car I’d never forgive myself.

I’ve probably saved a least two grannies and a corporate executive by now

pass ?? as in go through without paying?

I used to see a married female who worked in check outs, she would pretend to swipe bar code but just pass things through, I would have £80 - £100 of shopping for a cost of less then £20 she used to do this regular

Why don’t they use the self service checkouts, what they doing in the queues with us people doing the big shop and stocking up on Rola Cola. Saying that, if it’s a fit woman I will, but blokes can wait and watch me chat to Doris on the tills.

Sadly we don’t get to witness a lot of kindness in this world as it gets overshadowed by other things but it’s nice to hear it’s still out there ..

"I do this sometimes...then they can't find their purse ..or the right money..or their card doesn't work..or know the cashier and catch up with family news "

I threw a full on strop once when the cashier and customer continued their conversation and carried on talking after she packed and paid.

I was happy to wait until they both eyeballed me and carried on talking.

Gathered up my shopping saying 'You are obviously far too busy to serve me, so I'll find someone who will...It's fine, you carry on... Enjoy.

She said something about the woman being her neighbour - "Does the neighbour pay your wages?" No answer.

I am patient for the most part but rudeness and ignorance set me off because manners cost nothing, and when your in that customer facing job then at least have social skills

Depends where .. if it is in the supermarket where there are self checkouts and checkouts for 10 items or less, then no, they chose to queue in the normal checkout then they can wait!

Otherwise I am a nice person sometimes

There’s no bigger buzz then giving someone a car park ticket either.

Can't use the self service tills now that they've put all screens and stuff around them and the entrance zone. They made it too narrow for wheelchairs. In fact, my local supermarket made ALL the checkouts too narrow for wheelchairs by putting up the screening. Upon complaining, they've managed to make one whole checkout (out of 20+) wheelchair accessible. Wonderful. I just go to whichever checkout will accommodate my chair

Yes, if there elderly or have a disability, or service personnel ect, if they have a few items and (huge if) doing a big shop let them go ahead, I am the one who just picks up few bit and bobs, no one ever has let me pay for a pint of milk ahead of anyone shop no matter how big or small.

My Own Little World

Nope.

Most supermarkets have more than 1 till, there are usually self service ones available as well, so if they feel the need to stand behind me when I have a trolley full of shopping that will obviously take time to scan and pack that is their choice. They can easily (usually) find another till.

This is because in the past I have let people with a couple of things go before me, and 8/10 times I don't even get a thanks, like I am obligated to give them my spot. So I no longer bother.

It's a lovely thing to do, but I tend to be a bit oblivious when shopping so I may not have noticed I only use self-scan options since lockdown to minimise contact. I do try to be kind in other ways- was the most popular neighbour when there was no flour or yeast to be had in the shops and I ordered a 16kg bag with 500g yeast that I posted to share on Olio and the local FB page

I've been asked and said NO.

I've looked at people and said..... you go before me - you'll be through before ive unpacked.
