Although it's a charge and not a fine ...... the company CAN take you to court.... |

"Actually Topsy,
Go to the Martin Lewis site. I came across some advice there. Scroll down there should be a link. "
Thanks GC, I searched there too but came up with some useless forum advice.
I'll search my old emails, see if I can find it. |

There is a misconception that private companies can do nothing. Parking eye for example have started taking people to county court and if you ignore it judgment is often awarded against you and it will sometimes impact on your credit score etc. |

You are completely and absolutely wrong. A very simple Google search will tell you that. |

Fill out all the complaints forms etc.
Ignore their extra demands throughout. Usually the court case will be dropped.
That's if you know you weren't wrong or you feel unfairly treated. But if you were completely wrong you'll be busted. |

If private- write and say “ I have not entered into a contract with you, I have not committed an offence. Please stop hassling me.
I read that in one of the national papers years back and have used it twice - both a success.
Good luck OP |

That was the case 10years ago but it's not any more. As people got wiser to the impotence of parking companies the companies started hitting back. A few years ago their case for about £25,000 from one individual was upheld in a court and this has emboldened them. They are being much more aggressive these days. |

It used to be along the lines of......
Penalty Charge Notice (Usually local authority) was enforcible
and
Parking Charge Notice (Private Company) wasn't enforcible.
However......
I've just had 2 CCJ's from private firms recently thinking I was being a cocky bugger ?? |
