As a kid I can’t ever remember drinking water, it was all squash and cups of tea, with proper tea leaves, no wonder I got the shakes growing up, what about you ?

Under the Duvet

We drank water at home, very occasionally orange or lemon squash.

Nana over the road had fizzy lemonade sometimes and that was a proper treat.

Cream soda was like winning the lottery

Water was always from a tap, as the old man used to say, Evian is just naive spelled backwards.

We always drank water out and about. My mother refused buy any kind of food or drink when out - she filled old pop bottles with water, took a cool box of butties and if you didn't like it, tough taters. And she always had those wet wipes that you pull out of a plastic pot in a long strip

I never drank water when I was growing up - it tasted awful where we lived.

I grew up on orange squash and pop.

As a youth, I drank Top Deck shandy, which was cool. I doubt newsagents would be allowed to sell that to kids these days!

Did you keep pressing the button til it farted - then give it an extra long boost?!

...and see how much syrup you could add before it just turned to a bottle of syrup?

Or was that just me

Just fill a plastic bottle full of tap water put it in the fridge for a few days its lovely especially when the weathers like this tastes much better than your so called bottled mountain stream water under spring water from volcanic rocks etc

Corporation pop ain't free. Your mum paid for it. Or maybe your dad. But the point is: water rates. Nowadays water meters for some. But ain't free

Lifes departure lounge NN9 Northamptonshire East not West MidlandsMidlands

Not sure about the decades in question but have happy memories of water fountains found in most town centres and pleasure parks in the 50's and 60's.

I still do to this day drink tapwater most of which now comes through plastic pipes which have replaced the old lead pipes, we were at that time blissfully unaware of the dangers of lead poisoning.

I rarely ever drank water as a kid, I remember thinking it was "boring" so always used to drink squash, or quite often milk with Nesquick powder in. I drink plain water more than anything else now though!

Back in the day my mum always used to add a pint of pure orange juice on the milk mans weekly delivery as well for me.
