Hi,
Just wondering whether i could pick the brains of the Welsh fab community. Could anyone recommend the best views and photo opportunities around Wales? In particular, the beacons as i love it there! The less well known the better.
Recently moved to the area and looking to take my new landscape lens out for a spin. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance |

"Lake Vyrnwy is beautiful
Pistyll Rhaedr
Dinas Bran (Llangollen)
Harlech Castle
Great Orme
All beautiful."
Thanks! These all look amazing but a bit of a trek as all North Wales and i'm mid/South.
Saying that, I will definitely check out Lake Vyrnwy next week when I have the whole day to explore though as looks unreal!
Top recommendations! |

Croeso
Carreg Cennen Castle is wonderfully located. Dryslwn Castle too. Paxton’s Tower is good too.
If you head a bit north into Mid Wales, you’ll get to some really remote spots that are great locations.
Mwnhewch. |

Theres a road that approaches machynlleth from the south..
It enters the town across the golf club..
Going back along that road there is a viewpoint with a bench.
The bench is dedicated to wilfred Vaughan thomas...he was probably Wales's finest ever broadcaster..
It is said by some to be the finest view in Wales..

"Viagra falls in Ceredigion
Couldn't find the exact one but the area looks great! Thanks "
I should of said Cenarth falls.
Newquay and Tenby are nice and if you want more scenery then North Wales is the place to go.

I'm not welsh and haven't been yet but I was supposed to go to the Elan Valley at Easter for a week but Covid put paid to that, from what I've seen is stunning, and if you're also into wildlife photography there's Gigrin farm Red kite feeding centre.
I've rebooked fo Easter 2021 so fingers crossed |

think I'm going to go to the waterfalls recommended early on, the black mountains and the castle with the beach. I will report then which is most dramatic and breath taking. Might have a large format camera and be channelling Ansel Adams by then |

You would be lucky to get to Pistyl Rhaeadr at the moment..the queues were back into Llanrhaeadr at the weekend!!!!! Thats almost 5 miles...anyway its best in the autumn or winter when there is loads of water coming down it..or it is frozen! |

Only just seen this thread. As above, waterfall country (especially after rain/autumn colours) does get busy though.
Don't wait for sun for the coast, south Gower had stunning views in all weather - one of my most memorable runs I was watching the waves smashing into the cliffs at Fall bay. As a rock climber I know the lower cliffs are 20 plus meters high with the second tier another 30 meters on top and the spray was clearing to top of the cliff.
The coast along Southerndown/Ogmore is wild and beautiful too.
Craig Cerrig Gleisiad in the central Beacons, Cwm Gwdi and Cwm Llych on the other side of the A470. |

"Is Dinas Bran (Llangollen a place where you can get naked and take some photos "
No idea. I reckon you could get naked for photos in most places in the beacons as long as you walk off the beaten path. Literally had a picnic with wild horses and sheep the other day and didn't see another person for miles. Can I just say that if you've never been to the beacons you need to go. Like all national parks they're the best thing about out countries |

OK going to Rhossili Bay this week so is there anywhere else in South Gower you would recommend stopping off? Fall bay is 15 mins from there so will check it out.
Really appreciate all this advice! You're very lucky to be able to go running in such a place. |
