I have heard all good things about it and I am thinking of doing a version of it for my shredding diet as I like the philosophy behind it, have you done it and what do you do think of it? |

You like the philosophy, but don't know what it is |

Shag..... you of ALL know that all diets have to revolve around a calorie deficit to be successful. No matter what they are called , no matter what fad or packaging, if there is no calorie deficit there is no weight loss.
The 5:2 is supposedly good for reducing blood sugar but FUCK ME so is not stuffing your face with cake, sweets and white goods. ( I think I mean beige goods. I've never eaten a freezer ) |

"You eat normally for five days then only eat one quarter of your calories for two days eg 600 for a man.
I don't know what a shredding diet is. "
Oooh I have heard of this. Not sure I could do 600 calories a day though |

I've done it on and off for a few years when I feel I need to trim back a little.
It has worked for me but is hard going on those two days I will admit. Tend to save all my calories for an evening meal and just drink copious amounts of water

Yeah I done it a few years ago and and back doing it now. Works well.
It puts you in calorie deficit over the week with having to be too restrictive on your non fast days ago it suits me as I like cake. |

I don't know what a shredding diet is. " I see yes the shredding diet is to get leaner, what I will do is to take my weekly calories which is 17500 and devide it up so ot works the same way almost |

"I think I’d be waaaaay too hungry for that nonsense "
Personally intermittent fasting has reduced my appetite. It helps regulate your blood sugar and spikes and falls in your blood sugar can make you ravenous. I used to get like that after work and I don't now. |

It’s surprisingly easy if you spend those calories on the right things and space them out well, as well as staying hydrated. Depends what you get up to on those days too, if you’re really active it would be hard! |

I did it for a few years. It’s absolutely brilliant. I looked really healthy (and felt it too).
It is great for burning fat, especially belly fat, and has a lot of proven health benefits.
It is really hard the first few times you do it, but after that it surprisingly easy. I used to do hiit workouts on my fast days with no problem.

"I have few male friends who are into weight lifting and they all said intermittent fasting is the best way during shredding. But every body is different so 5:2 might work better for you who knows " That is right. I am doing good progress with my current diet, but want to try another approach as like this with calorie cycling rather than a linear diet. I am currently enjoying a refeed day on a saturday. I get about 300 extra calories on that day |

Ok shag x
So for losing bodyfat controlling hunger and generally a flexible comfortable diet strategy 5 2 is as good as any
However
For shredding it is not
Shredding requires a lill more
The cals you suggest you are on seem a touch high for your weight
I'm also a huge fan of if its it's working dont fix it
Thus if you are losing 200 g of fat a week change very little , remove 100 cals a day and walk an extra km
I usually would then have a 2 day refeed a month
I also play a mental game of fuel the future not the past
Thus I mainly eat forward
Work on 75 cals per hour and not eat until the fuel is used plus fat deficit
300 cals is 5 hrs |

Two things Ive not seen mentioned. The body kickstarts your metabolism after fasting which helps if youre diabetic etc..also write down everything you eat and drink together with their calories. You will soon learn what to avoid because of the huge calories you never realised you were consuming. Also helps you to substitute foods. Ie a two bar kit kat is over 100 cals . But so is an medium size Apple and a satsuma. |
