Been suffering from hair loss the past couple of months after being on a really strong medication. My doctor told me it was temporary alopecia but it literally hasn't stopped. Been using every supplement and hair oil under the sun but everytime I pulled another clump of my beautiful, thick waist-length hair out it was like a knife through the heart. So I just put it into two ponytails and cut it all off. And it looks shit and uneven, like I hacked at it with a machete. And I look ugly as fuck. And I'm just sat here crying at what an impulsive dickhead I am. But at least it won't hurt so much now when it falls out.

Really sorry to hear this. Remember our looks don't define who we are as a person. You'll still be the same beautiful you inside and those close to you will still love you for who you are.

Maybe go see a hairdresser to see if they can tidy you and give you a look to be proud of.

Big hugs xx

Don't panic and don't cut it anymore, even though it is tempting.

It's fine, taking your medication is the important thing.

Try and call a friend to talk things through x

Aww chick. Stress is a major factor too. When my dad died my hair fell out... then I had a hysterectomy and again 6 months later the same happened.

Allow your body to adapt. A good supplement I have used is called pharmaton. It should help. Good luck xx

It's so sad but keep in your mind the doctor said temporary so there will be new hair when the treatment or side effects wear off. There is light at the end of the tunnel even though you can't see it right now. I really feel for you. Take the plunge, visit the hairdresser and get a crew cut, it's liberating, and without hair to worry about I think you'll feel better. I've had to do it. I was going to send you a pic of my bald bonce but I can't.

Best wishes flower x

Your hair will recover, it can be replaced with a temporary hair piece to help you regain your dignity but your medication is the most important thing.

I would hug you if I could

I just want to give you a big hug!!

If I was you I would ring your GP tomorrow have you let them know how much this hair loss is effecting you? Have they looked at all options to see if any other medication can be used?

I'm really sorry lovely. It's such a shite situation. Xx

I understand how you feel my daughter has alopecia since she was 3 yrs went bald at 8 viral infections were the cause its a auto immune disease and can be triggered by a viral infection or medication or changes in hormones, if its your medication it may come back, as hard as it is my suggestion is to get your hair cut into a nice style that will minimise the effect and if its shaped it will make you feel a little better rather than having it look uneven, your personality and will shine through, dig deep but there are support groups that can help xx thinking about you take care

If you still have your hair and it’s as long as you say then maybe you could look at donating it? There are some charities that use hair like that to make wigs for children who have lost their hair in cancer treatments

Also I know it was impulsive but it was also brave to take control like that. And I’m sure you will look amazing once it’s been styled xx

Oh bless you

Make an appointment with a really good hairdresser, explain, they will give you a sexy choppy cut.

It will grow back

I cut off mine once in a fit of deep depression, it soon came back

Hopefully your medication will settle or perhaps you can try a new one.

Take care lovely

I wish I can give you a hug and give you strength, I had been in a similar situation some time before. As you can see, it didn't ended pretty for me, but after several failed attempts I made the best out of it.

For you, whatever medication you take, it seems to be important and keep on taking in. Medication has side effects, and some effects are more severe if you are not taking it. And tell your doctors, what else do you take and apply, sometimes the stuff doesn't mix well as I had to learn.

Really important is emotional and psychological support and as hard as it sounds, to make the best out of it.

Try to get your hair cut into a nice style, you have a beautiful face and some nice short hair will suit you. If the alopecia leaves whole are uncovered, ask your hair dresser if he can work out a fancy pattern.

But that requires some self-confidence, there are always wigs to wear or headscarfs to cover.

I wish I could give you more help, unfortunately I am outside your age filter but feel free to contact me directly.

Thanks, I actually stopped taking my meds as soon as I noticed. I wasn't meant to be on it for as long as I was but my GP just kept repeating the prescription instead of referring me to a specialist. Now that this has happened he's referred me but still trying to get to the bottom of it.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I'm feeling a bit better. I'm going to go to the hairdresser tomorrow and get it sorted. I wish I had just gone to them in the first place but let's just say this isn't the only stressful thing going on in my life at the moment, I guess I just snapped and had a bit of a Britney moment. I'm not hopeful that it's going to grow back anytime soon though as it's already been a few months with no new growth.

Tried Bioten tablets and folic acid??

Sometimes oil can be to strong for your hair and make it fall it.

Get some fresh ginger root squeeze the juice out, put a few drop of some essential oil like olive oil, Coconut oil, Tea tree etc.

Put in a spray bottle and spray onto your scalp and massage it, No need to rinsh it with shampoo, Just comb it out or leave it on.

After a few days your hair will start look thicker and and will stop any hair fall.

If you do see some hair loss while using it, That be just your hair stredding it will grow back.

Ginseng hair tonics/hair serums with natural ingredients are good for hair loss. You can pick some up online for less then £20 like 101 hair tonic etc.

Try using a natural ingredient shampoo that hos with hair loss, Or brands like Nixion who do hair thicking products .

Can't entirely relate - women have it much harder than men on this - but biting the bullet & braving the shave at 19 was the best decision I ever made about my hair, which started thinning & falling out at 17.

I hope you'll feel stronger & more confident when you're able to sort a new do out & the drama of today has calmed. Those who know your medical situation will understand. Those who don't understand don't matter. Plus think of all the money & time you'll save!

I got it fixed today my sister sent me to her hairdresser and he did an amazing (and very expensive) rescue job. He also made me feel better about the state of my hair as in his opinion it's not that bad and he couldn't see the bald patches but to be fair he doesn't know what it was like before when it was a lot fuller... He said the quality of it was really strong and healthy but that'll be down to the 10,000 supplements and oils I use every day! at least I know they're working lol

Feeling a bit more human though, yay

Thank you! It's crazy how much importance we place on hair but it's one of the main things I always get complimented on and I always felt like having long, thick, plentiful in a way "made up" for being big, like it was one of my redeeming features. Also bringing it to the front meant I could hide behind it and it made me feel more secure and confident; I feel very bare and exposed now. Will have to take some getting used to.
