"No. My mum was constantly weighing herself and obsessing about her weight and looks. That was what was modelled to me and so I grew up with the feeling that women had go be slim to be happy. I made a choice never to have scales in my house and always go off how I feel in myself rather than how much weight I gain or lose. I've been bigger and have been smaller but always what mattered was how I felt. No scales. There is little mention of weight or looks around my daughter. I want her to grow up aware of how she feels in herself.. and for that to be less influenced by how she judges her size. X " I absolutely love this. I always worry about my daughter as I'm so harsh on myself and I don't want her to grow up thinking she isn't good enough because of how she looks. I always try to hide it from her but as she grows she will start to notice it. I think I'm going to ditch the scales completely.

"Had to sit in a chair and get weighed when I was taken into hospital last week. Assumedly so they could get meds correct. I didnt ask what I weigh and could care less. I'm me, take me or leave me, I'm a chunk and that's that." Hospital are you ok xx

"Also, my daughter is round her dads gf a bit who is beauty regime mad and how you "should look". She spends a fortune on makeup, hair, clothes etc etc etc. Now, all well and good - but (in the words of Sarah Millican) it boils my piss that we (women) are still being accosted with "ideals" of how we "should" look. I'm fairly active and can keep up with my 7 year old tyvm. I want her to have a realistic image in her head as to what's "acceptable" or not- and what's acceptable is whatever she or anyone else chooses to do with their body. Whether that be the ultra fit ultra slim, the ideal, or something you choose for yourself. Steps off soapbox. Xxxxxx" I agree with most of your post, but I do feel saying women are accosted with ideals of how they should look, is a bit strong.Im sure there are some with, let's days... pushy parents in this regard. But often girls want to look a certain way without any push. I think most people growing up want to be desirable to perceived potential mates,so try to achieve this. Whilst I do think it's healthy for them to know thats the real world isn't really like insta, I also think it's healthy to teach them they can achieve alot with hard work. I was the funny chubby guy until I was 30, I got to 20st and decided enough was enough,i got into really good shape. It totally changed my life. The whole is a different place, people (society) treat you differently. Male or female,if your considered gym bod hot, you get noticed. People remember you, people go out their way to be nice to you. I wish I did it 10 years sooner. My point is,sometimes teaching people to just accept their body and love it as it is,can stifle their ambition to want to change their body into the one they imagine it could be. I think teaching them it's OK not to be perfect, but that they have the power to make positive changes if they want to, is a much better mindset to instill. Just my opinion, and there's obviously a balance, I just think some people would have benefitted greatly if they had been encouraged to make a change, rather than coming to terms with your flaws and accepting them, which in a case like mine, would mean settling for less, not just body wise, it completely enriched my life accross the board.

"I don't have any scales so I do on occasion hop on my friends if I use their loo Would you like to hop on me on occasion?" Possibly when my vagina decides it wants to reintegrate with society. For now it's comfortable being a hermit

" I did say my daughter can and should make that decision for herself. Shes heard my mum telling me constantly to lose weight (including another rant at me yesterday). I again told her that it's her body and her life and she should do what is right for her as she grows. And I'll always do that. She wont be "shamed". She will be glorified and worshipped for whatever form her happy takes.

"My husband never weighs himself, his weight never ever alters and hasn't done in all the years we've been together. Me, on the other hand am constantly trying to loose weight. I was weighing myself too often and getting fed up when I hadn't lost anything so my husband his the scales. I now go more on how my clothes fit. I do want to have a weigh about once every 3 weeks though." **Husband hid the scales
"Or do you just go by if your clothes are a bit tight or looser to tell if you've gained or lost weight? Mrs weighs herself Mr never weighs himself" Clothes are usually the sign for me ...might weight myself every so often but not obsessed with it .
