Given that most of the supermarkets used the shelves that emptied as fast as they were filled at the start of all this as a reason to remove all their "offers" and nudge prices up stealthily here and there...I'd say no |

Not in the slightest. The supermarkets have been the winners out of the epidemic. People spending more because they are home more, restaurants were closed for months helping them too. They've reduced their opening hours, cutting costs, received huge rate cuts saving £millions. Perhaps not a better time could have been imagined by then - a captive market, willing to spend all their money predominantly just in them, with little choice. Charging whatever they fancy. Prices are up. |
