Yes we said WINK not WANK!! Haha, it's just one that has always puzzled us from first joining fabs all those years ago, but does anybody know why or have a theory behind why some people wink and then when you message them in reply to that wink, even if it's a "thanks for the wink" reply that person chooses to either ignore that message or in some occasions block you.
Or are we the only people who find this? We used to put it down to maybe a slip of the finger, or they winked as soon as they went onto our profile and then decided to read it to find out were not for them or the other way around, it doesn't bother us as it's just a wink but like we said it's always made us wonder why wink in the first place, with us we don't tend to wink very often without sending a message but if we don't have time at all to message then we will send a wink to show we are interested etc, and when we have time later we will message them if they haven't messaged first.
Anyway rant over haha. |

Some folk think others may respond with a wink to instigate a message?
I guess its like smiling at someone. If they smile back there's a chance of connections? If they scowl, best leave it? |

I don't get it either. As you say sometimes it can be a quick way of saying hi and gauging interest. But why send and then not respond to a message, unless the message is awful lol.
I have had it a couple of times, thank them for the wink and try to start a conversation, then literally nothing.
It's frustrating but I suppose 90% of this site is, I could go on for days lol |

The right place |
"I don’t get winks either. I wink, you wink, we wink together... and where does it get us? Nowhere "
My long term fwb started from a wink. So it got me a great friend and lots of sex. |

We don't wink at people, unless they wink us then we might qink back. To me, a wink means "I've looked at your profile and like the look, would you take a look at my profile and see if you'd be open to an advance".
In reality, it would make more sense to just message.

We used to take no notice of winks when we first started on fabs as we used to think that if they we're that interested then they would message us, but then we would come across profiles that we liked the look of but for one reason or another didn't have time to send a message so we would wink (not very often) and then when we had time we would message them if they hadn't messaged us first.
Everyone has their own opinions on winks, some use them and some don't, we're sure some people on here send winks out random in a hope that some will wink back, and then other's only actually wink if they find that profile interesting. |

They do actually have a use.
If you have (for example) blocked single guys but see a guy you like the look of, if you wink them then they are then able to message you. |

I like getting winks. I always take it as someone being interested and always send a message to say thanks. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. I'll send the odd wink if I dont have time to send a message just to let someone know I'm interested in chatting....never seems to work for me though! |

I send winks as a nod of appreciation, to profiles I like, but have next to zero chance of ever meeting, because of distance. I might also wink someone who made a pertinent comment in the forum, or someone who specifically asks for a wink as an initial form of contact. There's no harm done either way, it's all good |

Yes, I’ve had winks then messaged saying thanks and nothing further. I’ve given up trying to understand how others think on here, that’s Fab for you
However I’ve made new friends and arranged meets from a wink, so for me they’re just another communication tool, use it or don’t up to you |

I normally send a wink as a sign of interest rather than firing off a message. I know women and couples on here get 100s of messages a day and winks no doubt. But a wink shows I like what I see, I even state it on my profile.
I will only send a message if I receive one back or get a message. Thou dont really have much luck either way |

Think it’s something that really only works for women and perhaps couples.. no matter how men try to initiate the contact it usually gets lost in a sea of other winks and messages in the ladies inbox.
But when a guy gets a wink he usually sits up and takes notice and will usually respond to the sender....
...only to get the crushing news that “..sorry; I hit the wink button by mistake”.
Hasn’t happened to me at all... |

You'd have to hit it twice by mistake so don't fall for that |

I often forget about winks & usually only remember to look at them when there's a post on the forums about them! I've also never sent a single wink!
M checks them though and will message people to thank them for the wink.

I always fab a pic if I view a profile, but occasionally ppl have pics set so you can't fab them, so in that case I'll usually send a wink, more just to say thanks and an I woz ere type of thing.... |
