I think some people view blocking differently. Most view it negatively or only block if someone has been unkind, but some just view it as a way of avoiding both people wasting their time in the future. If they're never going to be interested, they block you. |

I once had someone on here where the messaging progressed and things were going well to the point we were arranging to meet. Only to find that she found my Facebook profile and said she couldn’t meet me because of who I voted for in an election lol she then proceeded to block me. Very odd I thought |

Wouldn’t worry about it - I doubt it’s personal. I tend to use it as a time saver. There’s lots and lots of profiles on fab so it’s easier just to block and then you know it’s a no go if you stumble across them again in the future.  |

Because the sad reality is that there are loads of guys on here who persist or even get abusive when told no thank you or ignored, so women have learnt to block.  |

Sometimes it's easier to block as if you say no or ignore a msg or delete it you get abuse and called a bitch which really makes you consider if you should stay on here!
Single women get inundated with msgs so can't reply to every single msg as it would be a full time job lol |

I would imagine that women do most of the blocking seeing how there’s far more men than women on these sorts of websites, and more often than not most of the first contact is done by men as well. |

How do you know it is because you message to, maybe they think they may know you you and don't want to take a chance.
Maybe they they know exactly what they are looking for at the moment and don't want to waste your time I'm. Nobody likes rejection, there is no need to put into words "no thank you" if they are not interested.
If they block you or don't reply then it is clear they are not interested, without them literally spelling it out.
It may seem harsh but it is actually saving your time. |

I must confess I tend to use the block button as a sort of filter.
If I see/ read a couple or female and I'm not in their age criteria or maybe they're not looking for single males. I'll block them.
Stops their status updates or (when we can) their meets showing up on my thread. It's a time saving thing really. And given I don't match their criteria there's no reason to think they would even look at my profile. I'm doing them a favour...lol
Of course I also block those that have messed me around...lol
I think my block list is several hundred currently. |

Instantly blocked

Stack my profile and viewes agenst most on this site and come out on top that line is a complete bs cop out can’t stand it use to by that line
Till I start posting on forum and seen a nice little thread about how meny message a day do you get let’s just say I was top 3 only out done by 2 woman |

I blocked a guy this morning because of his status, rude and patronising, his only crime he looked at my profile. But I certainly didn’t want him messaging me and I could be the next on his gripe list.
I’m only interested in those who I feel will treat me and others with respect. You have frustrations and then express them, expect others will take against you and the block button will be used. |

It's only soul destroying if you let it be soul destroying and your sole purpose for being here is to get a meet any meet.
Take a more laid back approach, be yourself, set your expectations low and your attitude right, find ways to make the site work for you rather than you work for the site and it won't guarantee a thing when it comes to meets but it will improve your overall experience and perception. |

Our couples profile gets loads of messages and we don't get nearly as many as some, and even then it would be a pain to reply to every message, so a deletion followed by a block for those that can't take a hint. Nobody has to jump through anybody else's hoops. |

I've block a lot of people for not reading my profile, quite obviously aswell, asking me to do thing I'm not happy with and being demanding in the first message. Just a way for them to stop sending me mail.
Also if I see people being rude and uncourteous in forums I sometimes block them too.
As a single women or couple you must be swamped in mail and 99% probably doesn't interest you. |

People usually look at profiles before answering messages.
We all have limited time to spend on fab, so, if you receive two messages say and you look at the profile, who are you going to interact with: the guy with several pictures and a detailed profile setting out what he wants/offering or the bloke with one dodgy picture and the ask what you want to know profile?
Personally I view it as if he can't be arsed, neither can I: block, forget and concentrate on those who make an effort. |

we try our best to message people back even if it's to say "sorry not for us" etc, but when we get messages that are either from people who have clearly not bothered to read our profile or have sent us a copy and paste message, then we do block them straight away, as in why should we take the time to message "no thanks" when they couldn't be bothered to make an effort in the first place? |

We have our rules set out clearly on our profile, yet we still have some who think they are exempt. Then when we ignore or decline, they come back hoping we forgot about it 2 days later... They get blocked. |

It has also happened to us where we followed all the rules etc on the profile (secret word/face picture etc) and our message was either ignored or we had been blocked, we don't let it get to us and just move on knowing we obviously wasn't for them so no harm done |
