"So what does it mean when you send a message to someone and they don’t delete it but don’t reply ?
They have read it but not replied. Simple " I guess so ! And I’d do know some profiles get inundated with messages |

If it was me it would mean I was formulating a reply.
For someone else it could mean that or just they've opened the message and not read it so it stops showing as a new message.

For me if I read and don't respond I'm saving it for later. Otherwise I send an automatic decline. Sadly I have a back log of tasty messages/ppl saved that I am unlikely to get to the bottom of |

This is quite often my reason too . Sometimes I’ll remember to come back to it, but sometimes I don’t |

"Either they are thinking of a response.
Or they can't even take a second or two to delete? hopefully the first "
I'll hold my hands up, I'm one of those people that will read a message, read it again, put phone/tablet down and have little think, then get distracted and not reply for a bit.. Sometimes, not at all.
This goes for in real life with family and friends, not just on here.
(Great way to "sell myself" I know) but it's never done out of sheer ignorance |

"... you need to stop looking at your sent items"
Wholeheartedly stand by this - it can drive you crazy if your focus is on them replying. There could be any number of reasons.
This isn't life.
Try to see it as once you've sent your message it's gone. Any reply is a bonus. |

If do this it is because I have forgotten to reply, I might read a message and mean to go back to it then forget |

The way I look at it is if someone has read my message but not responded or deleted after a few days I assume ( righ or wrong)
They possibly aren't interested so I just delet it and if they responded at a later stage happy days |

"So what does it mean when you send a message to someone and they don’t delete it but don’t reply ? "
I assume they read it and forgot about it, if they haven't replied within a day. The fact they didn't delete it or reply with a no, suggests another message isn't unacceptable. Some may disagree... |

Id recommend deleting your sent items if you’re checking to see the status of first messages.
Some aren’t interested, some forgot, some are waiting for time to respond, but it’s impossible to tell which is it. Just delete and forget about it until they respond, if they ever respond |

many things.
* I can't be arsed
* I read it then needed a shit, in the 2 minutes it takes to drop a log I've remembered something I was meant to do and crack on with that once I'm out the toilet
* I know I'm not in the best of moods so I intend on replying when I'm not in bitch cunt mode
* I got hungry and needed a donut
* something came on the telly and distracted me
* next door got really noisy so I've got up and walked away to put my music on loudly, and now I'm singing along to Slipknot with my middle fingers facing the adjoining wall
* oooooo, kettle has boiled for the 17th time and I'm actually gonna make a coffee while the water is still hot |

For us it's usually something we'd like to consider and will talk about preferences etc between us first (we are a couples profile after all), or it might be that we want to simply show the other half before we reply. We're not always around at the same time or in parent mode so can't always reply instantly. |
