Sadly missed - remember as a kid flicking through the pages excitedly planning my next purchase - Sony Walkman or digital calculator watch!
Ahh those were the days! |

Always one around your house, or your cousins or friends, in fact you walked into the majority of houses in the 80s and almost guaranteed they’d have one Toy section from 6-14 and the lingerie section in Kay’s catalogue from 14- upwards |

Some funny posts on twitter today about Kays etc being people's first steps on the porn ladder |

"The Argos store in Derby has been closed since pre lockdown, and the local Sainsbury's doesn't have an outlet either!
Think I might just go to Beachy Head "
I went to Beaches Head one night determined to jump but thankfully I was actually saved by a homeless man... |

"Bill Bailey has a routine where he described walking into Argos to peruse "the laminate book of dreams".
I always liked that description of it, so accurate. "
Oh yes I remember this! Love Bill Bailey. Can't say as I agree with his characterisation of it though |

The first Argos store in Ireland only opened in 1996
Up to then anytime someone went to the uk we were asked to bring back a catalogue
The first day it opened in Dublin there was a queue a mile long outside
Some young entrepreneur grabbed dozens of the catalogues off a pallet in the shop ....walked down the queue selling them for a pound and people thought that he was doing them a favour |
