It's awful that anyone feels driven to altering their body due to what *others* think (as opposed to making that decision purely for themselves).
I've never understood why *some* people seem incapable of expressing their preferences - be it for a 'neat pussy' or anything else - without spitefully putting down those who don't match those preferences? It's so unnecessary and a thoughtless throwaway remark can really strike at someone's core.

It runs deeper than the throwaway comments. Even the mouths that dish them out are also victims of the wider problem which comes from years and years of an insidious culture of body shaming. I feel/hope it is slowly shifting and our daughters can grow up loving what they have and seeing it as normal, desired, beautiful, interesting, unique.
I'm 47 next week and I'd say I'm only just shedding the judgement and insecurities.. Its ironic! Just as Everything is changing in my older body. Its a constant readjusting. But what I would like to be constant.. Is the idea that I am just fine the way I am naturally.
We don't have to be attracted to everyone but let's take away the judgement, comparison and shame.

So I learned something today. I'm 56 with a fair bit of experience and had some pretty close relationships over the years. I do find it all odd. Until a few years ago ‘doing your eyebrows’ meant tweezing a few hairs - now my 15 year old drags me to Selfridges for ‘brow pomade’ costing TWENTY QUID! (I could almost buy an outfit for that!)
I think we’re the lucky ones though - we’re old enough to be comfortable with who we are and don’t give a flying f*** if others find us too hairy/not hairy enough etc etc.
Frankly I’d bloody hate to be young these days. In a way my daughters and my son’s girlfriend all loved lockdown - for once they got to be relaxed in their own skin without feeling pressed into entering a constant online beauty pageant.

I have no preference on how her lips are and I have friends that have been deeply affected by comments like some of these on the thread. I have been told I’m lucky because I have a ‘tidy’ vagina and that’s just plain horrible. No body should feel lucky or unlucky because of the way their genitals look. |
