I don't have a t.v. and initially had all sorts of threats because I had no licence. However having called them I had a letter confirming my status and have had no trouble since (I do use the radio a lot and think they're great value compared to the robber baron from sky etc! More power to their elbow I say! ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Just say you have no TV! Prove otherwise!? I think if you have sky or virgin or BT that you shouldn't pay a TV license as they have these channels and should just pay your bill every month! Its one of the biggest cons! |

Never did pay it. I use to recieve letters demanding payment and even letters saying that they were taking me to court.(the same kind of scare tactics which private parking companies try to play on me by running up fines) I ripped them all up and after a while they stopped sending them. I haven't heard from them for over 10 years now.
However I just moved house and when I got through the door there was a letter there for the occupier stating that there was no TV licence for the address.
I use to live in a rough area where nobody would call to your home for payment. Now I'm at this new address il wait and see what happens. |

It's about time bbc started advertising even if its reduced adverts.
Get rid of the fee.
It still could be controlled but as a not for profit company.
Keep the world service as this is popular for people abroad, a lot of foreigners love the service it provides and no adverts.
Ok you get people moaning about adverts but if you limit them to say non in films or in an half hour program than you still get plenty of money in.
Until a large majority of people stop paying and the money drys up then nothing will change.
And it be the people who refuse to pay ""and"" the same people who watch bbc or the tv will be the 1st to complain when advert interrupt their favourite show.
The adverts on the tv could keep the local radio stations going and maybe the major national ones.

It's an old outdated system, such a con. When you think about it, it's hard to believe that it's still in place given how tv habits have changed.
With the rise in on demand TV advertising revenue is falling. The BBC don't have to worry about that.

We knocked it on the head at the start of the year.
We have 2 T.V.’s in the house but both are hooked up to Consoles. We watch Netflix. Play games and watch other online content.
For 10 minutes of live fireworks at New Year the cost wasn’t worth it! |

Apparently people have been cancelling their license in record numbers and I'm now reaching the point where I literally can't bear their programs
The wokiest of the woke all sitting around a boardroom table thinking how they can push their agenda and disguise it as a television program. Endless cookery shows, endless antique shows, repeats of programs that were no good the first time and as for the news - basically political activism disguised as journalism
Everyone should check out the defund the BBC hashtag on Twitter |

Oh and they spend £100 million just collecting the license fee and are about to spend another £100 million on 'diversity'
And yet from August 1st old age pensioners are going to have to start coughing up for a license |

"I have bwc and that’s free baby although I really should have a licence the way I drive it "
Totally agree
People should watch Mike Maloney on YouTube about taxes...it's called The biggest scam in the history of mankind
ALL ABOUT TAXES and just how unless you manage to avoid everyone's being ROBBED

We never watch live TV, only youtube, Netflix or Prime which is about the same cost per year. Would hate to contribute to the ridiculous salaries of some very average presenters.
Some have said they don't watch BBC, just be careful because you need a licence if you watch ANY live tv from any broadcaster. |
