Yeah but they haven't really gone up a lot in the last few years.
I bought mine recentyl for 3 grand less than it sold for 15 years ago and before that it shot up something like 60 grand in a 20 year period |

Well if I charged someone a hundred quid for 20 mins work I'd would have trading standards after me.
Maybe my sparky is just greedy, I don't know |

Still I can't see how he can justify that kind of money for four screws and connect the cable.
I have quite a few other sockets and lights which I needed done but going by what I had to pay for two I'd of been up to a grand in no time, so il leave them.
My plumber is also a professional but he charges peanuts compared to the sparky.

That’s cheap!! I’m paying my friends son on the side to do similar and giving him £100 (he’s replacing 12 sockets with stainless steel but not a hard job) but at £100 I think that’s ok considering |

Ah, yes that's for nothing.
My electrician said he did 5 jobs the day he called into my house and that mine was the smallest job of the day. So now I'm thinking if he only charged them all a hundred quid each that's a nice earner for a day's work. I think I'm in the wrong trade |

They were separated for years and have now moved into the same house together, so they noticed the benifits agency of their new circumstances and that's when they heard about it.
Before January 2019 it wouldn't of affected their benefits at all.

It’s easy to understand really. If 2 people move in together they half their outgoings , their rents shared and council tax. |

Are you messing !
Forget you said “ elderly couple” because this could be anyone over 60. And seriously if they were living separate they should have their benefits cut now living as a couple!!
They were separated for years and have now moved into the same house together, so they noticed the benifits agency of their new circumstances and that's when they heard about it.
Before January 2019 it wouldn't of affected their benefits at all.
Fucking ridiculous
No it’s not!! It’s right ,, why should they get benefits for a single person then living together and expect the same ? You being serious??
Why such a big change from 2019? And over 700 pounds less a month!
Sure they will be living together but that's a huge difference.. It's almost half their monthly money
But that’s like saying “ Jayne down the road has lived on her own for “years” and suddenly she’s moved her partner in, her rent council tax goes up! OMG shock WHY!? Because she has a dual income? It’s simple really.
Both of their incomes was cut. I just can't see why they would reduce them so much.
It’s easy to understand really. If 2 people move in together they half their outgoings , their rents shared and council tax. "
Had much to drink tonight? |

Yeah taxing bastards. They'll soon make up another law for money soon enough after covid.
I know an elderly couple on my street who have decided to live together again and because of this they have had their benifits cut by over 700 pounds a month!

That’s cheap!! I’m paying my friends son on the side to do similar and giving him £100 (he’s replacing 12 sockets with

If it wasn't for the thought of getting electrocuted I would of.
Switch the power off (or the individual fuses) "
Until you come across someone else's handiwork and the light isn't on the light circuit... Its on the power circuit... Ouch |

Masks by the look of it. There’s literally nothing to them - yet companies are making a fortune charging up to 20 quid for something that must cost pence to make!
Even the disposable ones have had a phenomenal price increase in recent months. |

Whats to stop the electric still coming through the cables though. As for fuses I haven't got a clue what is what. "
Turn the electric off at the fuse box. It's not like turning the water off and you then have to drain what remains in the pipes. With electricity, once the circuit is broken, then is no electricity. Since you have no understanding of it though, I'd stick to paying an electrician. |

Lets see, Sterling was trading at 1.36 against the Euro in just prior to the brexit vote, it was about 1.09 on friday. Similarly it was about 1.46 against the Dollar in 2016, today its 1.27. The graph here shows the trend https://www.bbc.com/news/business-46862790.
But if you want think the increased cost of food is #justcovidthings, you won't be alone in that. Denial is more than a river in Egypt. |

"Fags and beer... And takeaway pizza "
Beer is okay in the right places “like Wetherspoons and the supermarket, but cigarettes are ridiculous in the uk. In Lagos Marlboro touch in a proper packet, no horrible pictures for £1.10, here they are £14 and the packet is gross. Luckily we have found them for £5 at the Syrian car wash but it’s still 5x the normal price , I don't know how people afford to smoke in the UK |

I been down de Nile lol ,if you think the big supermarkets are price fixing your prob right ,hysteria breeds profit they have no shame ,I was recently teasing reviews on lamb shoulder from Tesco don’t believe me take a read ,absolutely slaughters them on quality and price ,they buy direct from the Abattoir and demand the cheapest price ,they only buy a specific weight and rely on intense farming practices ,so passing these savings on is utter bullshit |

I think this is relative.
Holidaying in Ireland IS an absolutely rip off.
Package deals for summer holibobs through agents is more expensive than arranging everything yourself.
