Are you due yours? There is apparently a bit of a backlog due to a lockdown. Had mine done today. Thought it was worth posting a reminder, since the wait can be longer than usual.

Bumping this as it's so important ladies.

I no longer have smear tests as I had a hysterectomy and also had my cervix removed.

I never missed a test, they are no hassle and could save your life...please don't put them off. An excellent post OP.

You've done the best thing by going and most of the time if they find anything it's early enough to nip it in the bud with simple procedures. It's why it's so important to go!

It seems the backlog on sample processing was there before the lockdown already. Had the test begining of January but the results only at the end of March.

I had one done prior to coil insertion but not had a letter since. Coil was April 2018, I can't remember how often they should be and have no old letters as I've left home.

I was on 6 monthly after colposcopy and biopsy then to yearly but I really don't know when I should be due.

If I change gp will the new gp be able to tell me?

God I sound vague, sorry.

I would phone and ask as I had all of the above and I was was on 6 monthly checks for about two years until 1 came back normal so was put back to yearly, then changed to abnormal again so was put back on 6 monthly, now back to annual again! Definitely ask the question!

Mine was due in February which I cancelled as I was ill (I think I had coronavirus).

Asked about it a few weeks ago and was told that the Health Board were not processing them. On another visit I heard another woman say she was there for a smear so I booked mine for today.

Luckily the nurse was that good I only felt the speculum, nothing else. I certainly hope I'm not going numb down there!!!

I did find it painful, not sure if it was the procedure itself or the smear, but coming from a female doctor it was the worst I had ever had!

I had terrible stomach cramps for weeks after (which I never suffered from with periods) I never knew when mine were due if I was off contraceptive or not (I was one of the lucky one's) Even though I was on the implant I had what I call a 'fake overnight period' after a month or two which relieved it all! Maybe I just had a heavy handed doctor as I normally have a high pain threshold

I’m overdue for mine. I had my first when I was 18 and they picked up abnormal cells, this continued for a few years and numerous treatments. If I’d waited until 21 I dread to think what would have happened. I’ve gone from having them every 3, 6 months to annually For 10 years, to now just having them every 3 years. And this is the first time I’ve dragged my feet when booking one. I literally bully my friends to get theirs done, but I don’t know why I feel so nervous now
