My grampy’s greenhouse.
It smelled of tomatoes and he had a water butt outside where he would pop in bottles of soda stream pop (on a string) to cool off ready for when we had finished the watering.
I don’t miss the spiders. |

"I miss having no responsibilities, gifts in cereal, waiting for mum to finish off the washing up liquid so I could have a water fight. How about you?"
Having an adult make my life choices I remember thinking how lucky my mum was doing whatever she wanted... I was wrong! |

Meeting up with my friends at the local open air pool. Was brilliant. Families could have lil ones splashing in the baby pools, areas to sunbathe and picnic, and when there was rain or thunderstorms it was still great.
It’s now all enclosed, has been for years, so the young ones in the town have never experienced the freedom we had.

"Jetex" engines Loved the thrill of lighting the wick, throwing the balsa wood aircraft and watching it just fly or explode They exploded more often than they flew.
How times have changed. I was a six year old when i first bought one, nowdays you would need to be over 18, photo ID, signed permission form both mum and dad............as long as all grandparents agreed as well |

Listening to the top 40 on a Sunday afternoon, trying to record songs on a cassette without the DJ talking over the end of the song.
Actually going out, calling round for your mate and having to be home before the street lights came on |

You can always build a home. Homes a person not a place.....
And I have a tool for taking stones out of horses hooves
Worry its a bit like a rocking horse. Backwards forwards backwards forwards. Never gets us anywhere. (My old granny told me that; she was a wise woman)

Being carefree...Long summer holidays where we would get booted out of the house and only went back when we were hungry
I miss sitting by the fire in the kitchen watching my Dad make my toast over the flames during the powercuts.
Eating jacket potato straight out of the foil after they had been cooked in the bottom of the fire grate. Who needs plates! Just butter maybe some cheese

Having boundless energy and no thought of what if?
Riding bikes in the streets and guitar rifts
Laughing at everything no matter how daft
And always returning home to me mam and me dad
Movies were magical and music was great
Sweets were cheap and to eat them was okay
Not worrying about the planet, or weight or being dafy
And my mates, crap cider and once a week baths
I won't carry on.... Lol |

"Playing out in the evening summertime sun during the longest 6 week holiday."
Time.... just seemed to have so much more , those 6 weeks lasted forever and could send literally hundreds of hours on things like learning guitar, playing football or writing computer games , now you get the odd hour here and there |

I think ours were called Mr Freeze. I remember having the blue ones, don't know what the flavour was supposed to be. I used to smack them against the bars of the swings etc to break it up and help it melt. I sucked out all the flavour and was left with a packet of ice which we tipped down the back of each other's t-shirts. |
