I’ve found myself falling in love with reading books again during lockdown and would love to get feedbacks of books you would recommend.

I’m currently reading “the girl who fell from the sky”

Recently read “the alchemist”

“The forty rules of love”

Which I throughly enjoyed

Hit me with a a few more please.

Most of the books I read are fantasy in nature so depends if you like those kinda stories?

However one of my all time fav books is called the power of one and is set in South Africa during WW2

If you can find them, the books in my books pictures are actually a damn good read.

Elizabeth Gage is the author and the first is "A Glimpse of Stocking"

Not sure if they're still in print or available as e books though.

I can have electic tastes so it depends what sort of books you are looking for?

I can reccomend 'My Beautiful Friend' by Elena Ferrante for starters.

Jodi Picoult always seems to be a good read. I read Small Great Things earlier this year which was a brilliant read. I'm also a big Stephen King fan and I read The Outsider recently too, that was really gripping.

Oh, and The Southern Book Club's Guide To Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix! Loved that one. It's like Steel Magnolias meets Fright Night.

Strong yet troubled women, spot of murder, some suspense. Beautifully written erotic scenes. Written in the late 80s so nothing modern about it but it's pretty timeless. I love her writing!

Oh I’ve heard good things about the outsider. It’s been on my list for a while, slowly but surely getting through them.

I’ll look into both of those

There and to the left a bit

Depends what you like but anything by Peter James would get my vote - he's done a few standalones which are good and his Roy Grace crime series is excellent

All time favourite book is Birdsong by Sebastian Faulkes which is a love story set against the blood and guts of the trenches in WW1 and in a similar vein a very good recommendation from one of these threads My Dear I Wanted To Tell You by Louisa Young which I shall always be indebted to Goodnite Girl for recommending as it was a moving and powerful read that draws on actual events as it's basis

The Night Circus - Erin Morgenstern

Norwegian Wood - Haruki Marukami

The Historian - Elizabeth Kostova

Shantaram - Gregory David Roberts

The Shadow of the Wind - Carlos Ruiz Zafon

The Kiss Quotient - Helen Hoang

Those are in the first pile of books I saw and I love them so I'd recommend any of those - Morgenstern, Murakami and Zafon all have that fantastical romantic magical elements to their works. Hoang's is an interesting insight into neurodiversity as well as being a bit smutty and very funny. Shantaram is an epic novel and so vivid you can almost see the beautiful chaos of India before you.

Chocolat by Joanna Harris

You might enjoy the Jackson Brodie books by Kate Atkinson (Case Histories is the first one)

For a bit of magical realism you could give One Hundred Years Of Solitude a try by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

For crime you've got Karin Slaughter, Jo Nesbo, Patricia Cornwell, Harlan Coben, Michael Connelly.

Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood and The Power by Naomi Alderman.

Other authors Dorothy Koomson, Jane Fallon, Diane Chamberlain...

Missin’ Yo’ Kissin’

Assuming you like sci-fi/fantasy:-

Harry Dresden Series by :Jim Butccher. He also does the codex series...

Anything by: William Gibson (as he is the Grand-daddy of Cyber Punk! Mona Lisa Overdrive; Neuromancer;Count Zero (The Neuromancer Trilogy; Differnce Engine [Steam punk - bought not read yet!]

The Metatemporal Detective by:Micheal John Moorock (think he wrote stuff for Hawkwind and Blue Oyster Cult...)

Bill, the Galactic Hero by:Harry Harrison (read a few of those - wacky but funny.....)

Finished ages ago - Maria Brophy who has written a really insightful book for artistic creatives which has been on Amazon's top selling list. Her husband is Drew Brophy. He's knocking out geometric art the last time I checked....

I am currently reading:-

A short book about Painting - by Andrew Marr. It's not like expected. It's very insightful by the way!

Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep? By: Phillip K Dick (which was turned into Blade Runner.)

A book that I'm waiting for in the near future is about a female calender Pin-up artist and model - Zoe Mozert. Amazing woman!

Sorry, I found it hard to restrain myself there.

Reading The Name of the Wind at the moment. Sadly taking forever as can only dip in and out thanks to lockdown and the kids, haha. Amazing book. Can’t believe it was his first novel.

Recommended to me. Well, I was given a reading list, haha, hence now on Patrick Rothfuss, and they definitely have excellent reading taste. Before being introduced to writers like Patrick, I only read the classics really, some feminist fiction, as studied them, and loved them, so this has been great for me. Love literature! Viv x
