"I can, quite easily. Just look at who is in charge.
It is all part of their plan, just look what they recently voted against. NHS is 100% clearly intended to be sold to the highest bidder. "
Maybe they'll hold out another ten years for the best bid.... |

"I can't believe that the government have not included NHS staff in the public sector pay raise.
Bloody discussing.
" really think it was odds on that the bumbling Burk Boris was going to sell them down the river |

Been a nurse or anyone whom takes care of sick or elderly people do it as a vocation and they have my utmost respect, I know I would never have the aptitude or moral fibre to do such a job, their pay is a joke if you compare it to other industries with the same levels of education/training/responsibilities. |

"Nurses and junior doctors have existing multi-year pay deals, which is why they're exempt "
Nurses got the biggest public sector pay rise out of everyone 4.4%
This was agreed in separate deal.
I can believe the armed force got completely fucked only getting 2%
Whilst already overpaid doctors and dentists got over 3% |

Maybe with that whopping pay rise nurses can cut back on going the food bank? |

A minimum of 10 years training with an average GP's salary of £63000...I wouldn't class that as overpaid, especially for the level of responsibility involved. |

I'm not breaking down the budget
I'm just saying the ops opening statement is wrong.
But a 2% pay rise for the armed forces when they literally risk their lives in war?
We have massive undrrecruitment in all branches of the armed forces and officers are leaving in most cases before they even make captains ( or equivalent ranks)
As far as I'm aware nurses make above £25k that pegs them at or above national salary averages.
If you need to use a food bank when you earn £25k. You need to learn how to budget your finances or probably not have anymore more kids |

Why compare it other jobs?
They have risked their lives recently. Quite a few have died.
25k single parent..3 kids..mortgage..Bill's.. quite easily I'd imagine
Ah the pleasant euthanasia the poor argument
Personally if I was going to gripe about what people earn, people who routinely save lives would be way down my list.

I am comparing it to the other public sectors workers that where announced that got a pay rise today
If you would like a link I can give you one.
I watched my mates come home in body bags and get limbs blown off...its tragic but part of a risk they signed up for.
You can't join the NHS and complain about dealing with a pandemic...its literally a nurses job and if not them then which services does?
You can complain the ppe provided but the government was shit
I didn't see many reports about ammunition being rationed out during the recent gulf wars or armed forces literally buying their own kit.
I was also raised by a widowed single mother from 1yrs old along with 2 other siblings whilst she made less than the 25k.
That said I provided financial advisory services in my day to day life...so if you need some help I'm willing to offer my services free of charge.
The whole globe is economically hurting.
Do NHS employees have it hard yed
Do I agree the salaries put their employees on the breadline, no |

Here is a thought.
Rather than saying x is getting more than me that shouldn't be allowed..they should get what I got?why not fight for everyone to be on a good wage.
And spare me the.. oh it's a recession argument..they had 8 years of austerity but still found the money for trident/hs2/furlough.
The money is there when they want it.We have just become that docile we fight for crumbs.
Wanna raise some money?here is a thought...go after those million pound companies who literally pay buttons in tax. |

How quickly they forget!!
It's all smoke and mirrors anyway, to divert attention from the long awaited Russia Report.
Scarlett is a Specialist Nurse with a First Degree and many more certifications and years of training. She like someone else has said did it because it was a vocation and she loved it. Now all she wants to do is give it all up and leave nursing and the NHS.
The announcement this morning was a disgrace but it doesn't surprise me in the least. We have no one else to blame but ourselves (collectively), as it was the Great British public who voted this shower of shits in with some help from the ruskies ....allegedly.

"More shocking, to me at least, is teachers getting a 3.1% pay rise. I'm pretty certain I saw on the news early on something about schools closing "
My friends are teachers, they have worked really hard over this period... Gone into school to care for key worker kids whilst also simultaneously teaching the home kids online, and giving up all their holidays too. They have also delivered food parcels to all the struggling families and had to deal with constant change. |

What do you honestly expect from a Tory government?
The last ten years have seen public services, health services, criminal justice system, police, local government been slashed to levels where they cannot function effectively or efficiently.
Have you ever called 999 and been on hold before the call was answered? I have! In the UK, and not long ago either. |

The only thing worse than a Tory is a Tory with a majority.
Did we honestly expect anything different from this shower if shit?
But hey, we all clapped and put posters in our windows and bought little rainbow badges.
We are fuckin’ doomed.
Labour’s bill to remove the NHS from any trade negotiations was also blocked by the Tories. Little Englanders fucking us all. I work with people who don’t have a lotto piss in who are die hard Tories. Turkeys voting for Christmas. |

Add in housing, a child or two, transport costs, council tax, utilities, food and clothing... depending on where you live in the UK, £25k is no where near enough. |

"I’m a truck driver and haven’t had a pay rise for two year but was expected to work in lockdown "
Exactly.....Teachers and nurses do ok compared to many in the private sector , salaries range from £25K to £40K for workers & £40K to £120K for managers, it’s not great it’s not bad either and the pensions and holidays are good and non managers dint have to opt out of the 48hour working week |

The private sector covers practically every profession under the sun.
Why not compare them to lawyers or solicitors? |

To be fair it is not about the money. I earn enough to get by which suits me. The holidays are good, we get sick pay and i enjoy what i do. Yes we are short staffed and very stressed at times but no more than the checkout operators on a busy Saturday afternoon in Asda. If i wanted more money then i would change jobs but have no desire to give up what i love doing. |

Because it takes 2-3 longer to train and there’s 10x as many teachers and nurses, it’s not comparable.
It’s not rocket science if you want public sector to have high pay, don’t whine or hold your breath waiting for a Tory government to do it, they won’t , put a labour one in instead, they will. It’s simple |

You made the comparison.
You simply cannot compare public and private sectors..plus its completely unproductive.
As for your 2nd point.easier said than done |

as far as i am aware most nhs staff are in year 3 of a 3 year pay deal which was agreed in 2018... so their wage rises for 20/21 were already set in stone...
every who got pay increases today were not covered under any deals so it covers only the 20/21 year.....
so i don't see an issue with it..... good thing for me is that i should have had my wage rise in april, so mine is going to be backdated from them......

everyone elses in the public sector for 20/21 had not been agreed up to this point.... i am glad i am finally getting a pay rise |

I'm a Health Care Assistant at the hospital and I was chatting to one of the cleaners one shift and he told me that on a weekend, he is on a higher wage than the HCA staff.
Cleaners are vital in any setting especially a hospital, but I deffinatly think anyone working with the patients, personal care, supporting confused and at times aggressive patients suffering with Dementia etc, I work alot of the Gastro ward which sees alot of Alcholics and drug addicts who are often pretty rude and disrespectful at times. £9 an hour (no holiday pay or annual leave as I'm on Bank) seems a very short wage to be on at times.
You can earn more becoming a cleaner at Lidl or stacking shelves at Aldi, than you do looking after the most vulnerable people.
I wasnt surprises at all when I heard about the pay rises and who wasnt included. |
